Motorola Mobile - er Sunglasses!
The big guns have been showing off their new toys recently, with Sony Ericsson and Nokia releasing a raft of new devices (raft? thought I called it a ’slurry’ yesterday…no matter!). Today, things are quiet, apart from life in Motorola-land. Recently I’ve been a bit harsh on Motorola, largely due to the piss-poor ROKR. Now, though, I’d like to be nicer. No, really, I’d like to be, but they make it so damn hard to! Take their latest announcement - the RAZRWIRE. Sounds cool - some extension of their admittedly-gloriously looking RAZR mobile phone, perhaps? Well, sort of. Actually, Motorola have got together with Oakley to produce what they call Bluetooth eyeware….!!
In Motorola’s own words: “By embedding a Motorola Bluetooth® wireless headset into stylish Oakley sunglasses, RAZRWIRE lets image conscious consumers experience hands-free, cable-free connections to Bluetooth-enabled mobile phones or other compatible devices. Enjoy conversations while navigating life’s many adventures in style with the new RAZRWIRE.”
Or, look like a berk desperate to be cool! Come on - Oakley is cool, Bluetooth is geeky (not bad - just geeky). Combine the two and you don’t get cool geekware, you get geek trying to be cool-ware. Or in this case, Motorola going after the fabulous brand again, and getting it all wrong - again.
Mind you, they have just posted record earnings, so what do I know!?
