Hyundai have just announced the launch of their Hyundai MP280 perfume handset. Yes, that's right, a mobile phone that also sprays perfume! And I thought fitting a projector into a phone was one of those features no-one would have believed possible. At least that's only a prototype, though - the MP280 is for real!

According to Chinese moble tech-blog PhoneDaily (and forgive the BabelFish translation - hey, it's better than I could have done!):

"The modelling very dazzles, the color is changeable, even the function remarkable handset is not already strange. Newest publication HYUNDAI the MP280 original creation "the perfume laying aside box", will be able to let ? the most attractive perfume "pour into" in the handset, ???? will send out the enchanting fragrance, will tease "him" sense of smell!"

Hyundai MP280 Riddle Butterfly Machine

The Hyundai MP280 is called the Riddle Butterfly Machine - and with good reason too:

I'm not sure if this sounds painful or rude, but I'm sure that's just the Babelfish translation. What's not lost in translation, though, is the fact that this really is a mobile phone that smells (and not like the bad smell that emanates from a Motorola after a while either). Currenlty only intended for the Asian market at the moment, which is a shame, as I'd love to know whether this thing would take off in Europe or the US. We all have our cultural differences, and it's bonkers phones like this that really make them shine!
