Motorola ColorNotes animated SMS messages
Motorola have announced the Motorola ColorNotes Solution, which transforms traditional messaging by allowing mobile subscribers to express their emotions. The innovative messaging service developed for CDMA and GSM networks converts traditional voice or short messages (SMS) to multimedia messages (MMS) that incorporate animated graphics and audio. Motorola ColorNotes also enables users to receive broadcast messages, such as news clips, stock quotes, horoscopes, jokes and more delivered by their favorite animated character.
With Motorola ColorNotes, animated characters take the words right out of consumers' mouths. Subscribers are able to choose from a library of characters, including celebrities, cartoon characters and animated objects offered by the operator to deliver their messages. Motorola ColorNotes subscribers also have the ability to select from nine different emotions that the character will portray when delivering the message. When the recipient retrieves the MMS, they view the animated character and hear the sender's message.
Intriguing. I seem to remember prototyping something very similar for Orange back in 1999, which we called Hyper Animation Markup Language. Is there nothing new in this world any more? ;)
