Pantech has announced plans to launch many of its mobile phones across Europe. Pantech is South Korea’s second largest mobile phone manufacturer, and sells devices that are just as advanced as Samsung’s and LG’s. To support its claim, Pantech will demonstrating no less than 30 of its handsets at tomorrow’s 3GSM World Congress.

Pantech PU-5000 UMTS mobile phone
The PU-5000 is a slider phone featuring video telephony, MP3 player and dual cameras with 1.3 mega pixel resolution and VGA functionality.
Pantech PG-8000 mobile phone

The Pantech PG-8000 is designed with a sophisticated digital camera (‘dica’) look, which features a 2 mega pixel camera and a wide and horizontal LCD display, as well as WAP and JAVA systems. It also comes with an MP3 player, QVGA screen, and ‘text to speech’ feature, in which your incoming texts can be read out by an-board voice synthesizer.

Pantech PT-K1800 mobile TV phone

The Pantech PT-K1800 mobile TV phone comes in a slider form, and is equipped with a 2.2” QVGA (240×320) LCD, a 1.3-megapixel CMOS camera, an MP3-player, a semi-automatic sliding antenna, TV-out and a slot for microSD (TransFlash) cards. The phone supports multitask functionality, timer recording of programs, electronic dictionary and VoD. Dimensions are 102×51.4×24.2 mm.
Note that this phone currently only supports T-DMB, not the European DVB-H standard. However, Pantech have spent $200 million on expanding their exports, aiming to sell 23 million mobile phones worth $3 billion a year. So even if these phones don’t make it outside of Korea in their present form, they’re certain to be adapted to meet local requirements. Marvellous, real Korean phones coming our way at last!
