Samsung SCH-B5200 gaming mobile phone at CeBIT 2006

Samsung have announced the new Samsung SCH-B5200 mobile phone at CeBIT 2006, which is designed firmly with entertainment in mind. Clearly Samsung see the SCH-B5200 as a successor to Nokia's ill-fated N-Gage, but just in case 3D gaming on your mobile phone doesn't take your fancy, they've also thrown in an MP3 player and DMB mobile TV as well - just in case you get bored!

More details and pics after the jump.

Samsung's new SCH-B5200 mobile gaming phone slides in two directions: slide it width ways to get at the game controls, and length ways to get at the mobile phone controls. This at least makes the phone look like a phone when you need it to (i.e. when you're actually making a phone call), unlike the N-Gage, which looked more like you holding a small tray to your ear when making a call on the thing!

How good the phone will be at actually playing games is unknown at the moment, as details are sketchy. As Samsung showed earlier on at CeBIT 2006, they clearly are mobile phone tech world leaders, announcing a mobile phone with 8GB hard disk, and a 10 megapixel cameraphone. Somehow, though, I can't see Sony or Nintendo losing any sleep over this new phone. As Nokia proved, games consoles, mobile or otherwise, require more than just technology to be widely used.
