The UK's home broadband market is being shaken up at the moment, with Carphone Warehouse (our leading mobile phone retailer) offering free broadband bundled with its TalkTalk landline phone service. Now, T-Mobile has waded in by threatening to replace the landline altogether - both for voice calls and broadband data services.

LG have taken a shot at Samsung's world's thinnest phone record with the new KG320. Unfortunately, though thin, it needs to shed a few pounds to beat Samsung's anorexic waif. The LG KG320 is 9mm thick, which is a few pies over Samsung's 6.9mm.

Motorola have finally come up with something more original than simply giving their existing phones a new paint job. They've patented a way of "evaluating locations according to Feng Shui prinicples" using a mobile phone! Using a combination of GPS receiver, digital camera, 3D hall-effect sensor and other features, the phone will apparently be able to work out how harmonious your home is according to the utter guff guiding principles of Feng Shui.

Pink phones are all the rage these days, ever since Motorola released a pink RAZR. Such was the popularity of the new pink phone, every other handset manufacturer has since jumped on the bandwagon and come out with its own pimped-up pink version.
So what are the choices should you wish to
purchase a pink phone? In no particular order, we have the following
top pink phones:
Motorola have painted their PEBL mobile phone in a variety of what Motorola call "vivid hues". Now customers can choose from "vibrant" shades of green, orange, blue and (of course) pink.
The PEBL was always a good looking phone, but it's not that well equipped, sporting only a VGA camera and no MP3 player.
Motorola clearly feel repainting it is a better option than providing it with a decent feature-set.

Jeong Kim, the head of Bell Labs, has said the company is working on a highly-sensitive electronic nose, which could be used in mobile phones to recognize the owner. "A smell has properties. The dog can identify you in the darkness through the smells by analyzing them. The dog has a good sense of smell," Kim said. "By analyzing the properties, an electronic nose can smell. (When this technology is applied to phones) Your cell phone can identify you through the smell," the 45-year-old said.
Nokia's latest N-series Multimedia Computers mobile phones come with the ability to upload your images directly to Flickr with just one click. No need to download any software; simply select your image, and click 'Upload to Flickr' and you're done. All of Nokia's N-Series phones from now on will come with Flickr integration, starting with Nokia's latest crop of smartphones, the Nokia N72, N73 and N93.
So advanced have Nokia's latest N-Series phones become, the company has chosen to call them 'multimedia computers'. The term 'smartphone' presumably doesn't convey enough functionality for Nokia, so nothing but multimedia computer will do to accurately convey what these fully-loaded mobile phones are capable of.

Nokia N93
Not content with DVD-like video capture at 30 frames per second, a 3.2 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics and 3x optical zoom with video stabilization, Nokia have also chosen to bundle Adobe's Premiere Elements 2.0 software with the Nokia N93, letting users edit their videos, burn to DVD, and export to other formats for Web streaming and email. This has presumably caught the attention of Harry Potter director, Gary Oldman, who accepted Nokia's marketing cash will be producing short films on a Nokia N93 based on the theme 'open your eyes'. "Harry Potter and the Multimedia Computer" may be some years off, but it can't be too long before Nokia start producing broadcast quality videophones.
Nokia have announced the new Nokia N93 videophone. Last in the new N-Series phones announced today, the Nokia N93 has been expected for some time, ever since leaked photos of it emerged last November.
The N93 is visually stunning, following the design lines of its predecssor, the N92. It offers similar superb camera and video features, as well as excellent connectivity, but naturally improves on its predecessor. The N93 offers a 3.2 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss lens, 3x optical zoom, and MPEG4 VGA video capturing at 30fps with digital stabilization. It also offers you the ability to post your images and video directly to your blog, or view them on TV. The N93 offers tri-band GSM, 3G, WLAN, Bluetooth, Infra-red and UPnP connectivity.
Better still is the form factor. It's the same twisty form-factor already used on the N92, but combined with the enhanced features of the N93, this is one serious phone to show off to your mates. The Nokia N93 release date is set for July 2006, costing 550 Euros.
Update: I've now posted a Nokia N93 review here.
