Samsung A960 with cool OLED

Right, Samsung at CTIA 2006 news time. Sit down for a bit, Samsung tend to make more announcements at these events than the rest of the manufacturers put together! In fact, they've announced no fewer than 35 new products, network solutions and alliances. This may take some time...!
First up is the new Samsung A960 (above). Not many details on the new mobile phone yet, but apparently it sports a cool-looking OLED display on the outside.

Samsung SGH-T509 Next comes the Samsung SGH-T509, which according to Samsung will be the thinnest candybar phone in the US (and looking not dissimilar from Motorola's SLVR, either). Only 0.39 inches (9.9mm), apparently, making it 4mm thinner than a RAZR (but still not as slim as the world's thinnest mobile phone, which is only 7.9mm thin!).

Samsung also unveiled the t709, expected to be the first phone in the U.S. to offer WiFi/UMA connectivity, and the zx20, expected to be the first HSDPA phone supporting 1.8 Mbps in the U.S. Samsung showed other distinctive products for the U.S. market, including the slim slider d807, push to talk d407, and the multimedia-rich a930.

Samsung's Wireless and Broadband Network Systems division unveiled its IP- based Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) solution that will enable the global availability of converged telecommunications services via a WiMAX network. Samsung's suite of WiMAX-ready products usher in the age of converged services delivered from a single, IP-based network. Home, business, and vehicular applications include Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), video telephony, multimedia messaging and conferencing, location and telematic services, broadcast, and multimedia push and demand services. The company also provided an update on its global mobile WiMAX trials and deployments, including Sprint Nextel in U.S., TVA in Brazil, KKDI WBB in Japan and BT in Great Britain.

Samsung t719 Blackberry connect mobile phone Also announced was Samsung's groundbreaking t719, which is expected to hit the U.S. market as the first phone incorporating RIM(R) Blackberry Connect(TM) Email in a compact, slim folder design. With its SureType keyboard, convenient thumb pad and speakerphone, the EDGE-enabled, quad-band t719 boasts a 2.12-inch, 262K-color TFT screen that provides an ideal view for emails, file downloads and video capture/playback.

In addition to its productivity-enhancing features, the t719 also delivers mobile entertainment capabilities, including a 1.3 megapixel camera, camcorder and media player. At only 3.5 ounces, the t719 remains a lightweight, hands- free device with Bluetooth(TM) wireless technology support, speakerphone and advanced voice recognition solutions.

More on these announcements tomorrow.
