Dopod have released a new smartphone modelled on the trusty Star Trek tricorder. The new Dopod S300 offers the usual smartphone goodies - 65k colour 240×320" TFT screen , MP3 player, email, usual office apps, plus the ClearVue suite (for reading Word, Exce, Powerpoint and PDF files). But its the looks of this smartphone that really grab the attention.

Deliberately based on the design of Kirk and co's favourite gadget, the Dopod S300 gives rise to a curious mix of thoughts: "just-another-smartphone" is soon replaced with "hang-on-isnt-that-a....", followed by "are you out of your Vulcan mind?!"
