Pantech PG-2800 finger-writing recognition phone
Pantech are demonstrating their new Pantech PG-2800 ‘finger-writing recognition phone’ at the SVIAZ Expo Comm trade fair in Russia this week. The PG-2800 apparently recognizes and processes the user’s writing of text messages. “Consumers can either push individual keys or write letters with their fingers on the keypad when looking up words in the electronic dictionary or sending text messages,” says the press release. Make of this what you will!

Apparently this new form of text input makes it easier to enter Chinese and Russian characters, so presumably standard keyboard-style buttons are more than adequate for English.
