How many companies make smartphones?
Ever wondered how many companies are currently making smartphones? Probably not, but I’ll tell you anyway! According to Unstrung.com, there are no fewer than 24 separate companies all fighting for dominance in this growing segment.
Nokia are top, with 7.1 million units sold in the third quarter of 2005 alone. All the major mobile phone companies are accounted for, together with a growing number of Chinese entrants, such as Huawei and HTC, some Korean entrants, including Pantech, Curitel, LG and Samsung, and the obscurely named Ningbo Bird.
