Samsung prepares for 8GB mobile phones
Samsung have announced it is mass producing new NAND flash memory capable of storing 8GB (that’s GigaBYTES – not Gigabits!). The company plans to embed this new technology in mobile phones, amongst other devices, to cope with the increasing storage needs of the last handsets. 8 Gigs will let you store 2,000 MP3 files or 225 minutes of DVD-quality video.
Even more amazing, the 8Gig NAND flash memory follows the New Memory Growth Model of double density growth every 12 months – meaning that in a year, we’ll be looking at 64GB on a mobile phone!
