OKWAP A323 mobile phone with Astro Boy
OKWAP have released the new OKWAP A323 mobile phone featuring none other than Astro Boy. For those not in the know, Astro Boy is an enduring and extremely popular manga character who was first created in 1952.

The link between an OKWAP A323 and Astro Boy may at first seem tenuous – the A323 is a low-end slider phone with MP3 player, 1.3 megapixel camera and not much else, whereas Astro Boy is a powerful robot who can fly, comes with 100,000 horsepower, and bum-mounted lasers (yes, that’s not a typo – he has lasers mounted on his bum!) But the end result is glorious, and will undoubtedly become extremely collectable.

More info on the OKWAP A323 Astro Boy phone after the jump.

The thing that strikes you about the A323 Astro Boy phone is the level of detail OKWAP have gone to.

Starting with the metal case, which gives you no doubt about the collectability of this mobile phone, the theme of Astro Boy isn’t just a minor theme of the phone – it consumes the phone.

Inside the case, you get the A323 Astro Boy phone and a whole plethora of Astro Boy goodies, including key ring, pouch, and, er, frisbee (or is it a big sticker – BabelFish translation isn’t too clear on this, talking about “the bean or sweet potato starch noodles”…er!!)

But it’s the phone’s detailing that really impresses, with a dedicated Astro Boy button on the front (not sure if that’s how you control the bum-mounted lasers), as well as an Astro Boy-shaped button on the side, plus a huge Astro Boy pic on the back.

Inside, the A323 is fully loaded with all manner of Astro Boy software and goodies, including games, wallpaper and screen saver, but no bum-mounted lasers, more’s the pity. It also comes with an English-Chinese translator, which not only translates Chinese characters into English, it’ll also speak them out loud, in case the Chinese person using the A323 doesn’t know how to pronounce the words. Not sure how well this works, but it’s a nice feature.

All in all, OKWAP have served up another great looking themed phone with the A323, that’s sure to be a real collector’s item. If you’re into Astro Boy, or just like your phones to be different from everyone else’s, the OKWAP A323 Astro Boy phone is a must.
