Samsung SCH-B570 8GB Music Phone

Samsung have announced the SCH-B570 mobile phone. Following in Samsung's fine tradition of super hi-tech phones, the B570 sports an 8GB hard disk drive capable of storing 1,600 MP3 tunes (in true Samsung style, this is the "world's largest storage capacity for a handset"). As if that wasn't enough, it also offers 5.1 channel virtual stereo and echo effect, to apparently bring you the same quality of sound you'd expect from a 5.1 channel home theater system.
And did I mention the satellite mobile TV, Picture in Picture feature, GPS, 2 megapixel camera, and motion sensor? No? Then read on!

The Samsung SCH-B570 has so many features, it's difficult to know where to start! The 8GB hard disk is the feature grabbing the most attention, as it pushes the B570 firmly into iPod territory. However, the B70 can do more than simply play tunes - so much more!
For a start, it naturally features mobile TV. Not just any mobile TV, though - satellite mobile TV (S-DMB), as well as Samsung's new Picture in Picture feature that enables you to watch TV and PMP movies simultaneously (presumably TV with the left eye, movie with the right!)

What other functions? Well, the SCH-B570 comes with a 'motion recognition capability', which lets the phone recognize when it's being shaken. And the purpose of this particular piece of electro-wizardry? An alarm clock! Yes, when your super hi-tech phone's alarm goes off, you can switch it off simply by shaking the phone, rather than having to press a button - that would be much too lo-tech for Samsung.
Then there's the SCH-B570's Golf Manager, a feature obviously pinched from Nokia with their Nokia N93 golf edition. Samsung's version lets you search for information on a particular golf course (South Korea only), track your score, and even calculate the driving distance thanks to its nifty GPS feature.
It may not be the best looking mobile phone, but add TV-out, 3G connectivity (CDMA 2000 1XEVDO), 2 megapixel camera, and mobile printing, and the Samsung SCH-B570 goes right up there as one of the most technologically sophisticated mobile phones for 2006. Nice job, Samsung!
The Samsung SCH-B750 release date is set for late August/early September 2006, priced around $800 - but only in Korea (for now).
