Sony Ericsson WEGA phones on their way?
Yet more delicious rumours, this time in the shape of new Sony Ericsson WEGA phones that may be coming in the next year or so. Despite mobile TV being all the rage amongst the top mobile manufacturers, Sony Ericsson have been slow to announce their plans, let alone release a mobile TV handset.
All this may change soon though, as Sony Ericsson's senior vice president of Product and Application Planning, Rikko Sakaguchi, has admitted that there are plans to use Sony's WEGA branding that it uses for its high end TVs on new Sony Ericsson mobile TV phones.
Sakaguchi continued that it takes two years to develop a new line of phones such as the Walkman line, but you can bet that Sony Ericsson have been working on this for some time. With 2007 expected to be the year of the mobile TV phone, my bet is that a new Sony Ericsson WEGA phone will join the other mobile TV handsets about a year from now.
Sony Ericsson WEGA phones, Sony Ericsson Playstation Phones, and Apple iPhones - this has been one interesting week! Roll on 2007 when they're all released (possibly!)
