LG KE850 Prada Phone no better than the iPhone
LG have finally come clean on the LG KE850 Prada phone and its specs - and it ain't good! It's already been mentioned how much the LG KE850 and the iPhone seem to share - same form factor, touchscreen interface, similiar look and feel, etc. - and now, it seems they also share the same array of rather limp features!

No 3G, GSM and EDGE connectivity only, Video player (not recorder) and limp 2 megapixel camera - the iPhone or the KE850? Well, both as it happens. Indeed, other than the iPhone's use of fancy OSX trickery and WiFi, these two phones really could have been separated at birth.

So LG have a fight on their hands if they're to convince people to buy the KE850 over the iPhone. I really thought it would at least have had 3G (and maybe even HSDPA) in order to compete with the iPhone, but it seems it's actually got fewer features than Apple's mobile.
No wonder LG needed someone like Prada to brand the KE850 with. At least that provides a bit of brand recognition that could help to boost the phone's image a bit. Otherwise, it looks the poor relation of the two phones.
Worse, as expected, the KE850 isn't cheap - prices will start from 600 Euros, which is similar to the iPhone's $499. So the KE850 won't compete on price or features. In fact, the only thing going for it is that it'll be released before the iPhone, and it should be available on different network operators (the iPhone, in contrast, is only available through Cingular on a two year contract).
The LG KE850 Prada phone release date is February 2007 for Europe and March 2007 for Asian markets. So if you can't wait for the iPhone to be released, you could do worse than opt for the LG KE850 - otherwise, hold tight for the iPhone's release later in the year.
