Google Switch mobile phone Interesting new pics have been photoshopped leaked of what's being called the Google Switch - the mythical Google Phone. Details are sparse at the moment, but it's rumoured to include GPS for automatic navigation using Google Maps, GTalk and GMail, and no onboard-storage.

What - no storage? Yup, the Google phone will pull all your apps and info down from a server.

However, before I rave too much about this new phone, all this smells a bit too much of what fanboys wanted from the iPhone.

For example, the Google Switch allegedly has a touchscreen interface, just like the iPhone does, but whereas the iPhone has EDGE rather than 3G, and Google Maps but no GPS, the Google phone will reportedly come with GPS built-in, and will need at least 3G if it's going to pull its data from the network, and probably even HSDPA . In other words, all the bells and whistles the iPhone doesn't have.

Of course, if Google really is going to release a phone, then kitting it out with better features than the iPhone would certainly help it compete, so maybe I'm just being cynical. Besides, now that we know all about the iPhone, we need something big to keep the blogging rumour-mill going!
