LG have announced the LG CAN*U mobile TV phones, each of which features of one of 10 designs by famous cartoonists and painters.

The phones themselves are fairly feature-laden: T-DMB mobile TV, 2.6″ screen, MP3 Bluetooth, camera, and even mobile banking facilities.

However, it’s the artwork on the phones’ covers that really set them apart, as is obvious from the fact that the press releases only show the back of the phones.

LG are hyping the fact that all of its CAN*U models (actual title: the canU701D) were sold out within two hours when displayed at a purchase reservation event. However, given that only 160 were actually on offer, this isn’t, perhaps, as impressive as it first sounds!

Some of the artists whose work features on the design include Yi, Seokju, Jung, Hyeonsuk, Heo, Youngman, and Han, Seungwon. If LG really wanted to shift their phones, though, they should have asked my mate Lee Garbett to contribute some artwork, whose many credits include Judge Dredd!
