Sony Ericsson K850 or Sony Ericsson Sofia CyberShot phone Is this the new Sony Ericsson 5 megapixel CyberShot phone?

Update: No, but this is!
The jury's out at the moment, but rumours have been rife for some time that Sony Ericsson will be announcing just such a phone, codenamed the Sony Ericsson Sofia (after the tennis player Sofia Arvidsson) and possibly called the Sony Ericsson K850 upon its release, possibly as early as next week at CeBIT 2007.

More details of the Sony Ericsson K850i/Sofia after the jump.

The latest rumours suggest the Sony Ericsson K850 (or Sofia, or whatever you want to call it) will come with 5 megapixel camera, xenon flash, QVGA recording, 2.2 inch screen and 3G, but surprisingly, no optical zoom.

Of course, Sony Ericsson has to release a 5 megapixel CyberShot phone some time this year, if only to keep pace with Nokia, LG and Samsung, all of whom already have such phones either on sale or coming soon (the Nokia N95, for example).

Whether the Sofia/K850/whatever actually looks like this, though, or something else, is open to debate, but one thing's for sure - this is a damn fine looking phone, so let's hope it does!

Sony Ericsson should have quite a few announcements to make at CeBIT this year, which should certainly make up for its poor showing at CES and 3GSM. However, given the hype of the iPhone, which was announced at the same time as CES, waiting until CeBIT to announce your best new products isn't a bad strategy. Watch this space next week.
