Moving firmly from the rumoured category to the ohmigoditsreal category is the new 8GB version of the Nokia N95. The new N95 comes with the same amazing range of features as the original, but with one or two key differences.

Nokia N81

True to their word, Nokia have made a raft of announcements today, the most eagerly awaited of which is the new Nokia N81.
The N81 is a great-looking slider that doubles as both a music phone with a whopping 8GB of storage, as well as a games phone, with support for Nokia's new N-Gage gaming service.
In addition to 8GB of storage, the Nokia N81 also comes with Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity, 3.mm headphone jack, and full integration with the new Nokia Music Store and N-Gage gaming service.
What this means is that you can browse, buy and download music and games over the air without the need for a PC.

At last, the new look MobileMentalism is finally ready, and is rendered here in all its glory. Of course, there'll still be a few tweaks that are needed, but hopefully nothing too drastic.
The new design brings with it a few changes to help make finding some of the posts much easier. The first difference you'll note is the new menu bar, which should make digging through the main categories much easier. The way the posts in the categories are displayed has also been improved.
Before, there was only ten posts per page rendered, but now that there's over 1,000 posts in MobileMentalism, a better way was needed to help you, the reader, to find the post you want. As such, each category now lists 50 posts per page with just the post's title being listed rather than title and excerpt.
There's also a new footer, which again should help with navigating through the site.
Finally, I'm delighted to say that comments have now been switched on again, and not before time!
Normal posting will resume tomorrow, when we can get back to the fun of talking about what we love most - mobile phones! Just in time for Nokia's new announcement, too.

You might have noticed this past week or so that MobileMentalism has been looking a bit, well...shabby! Believe me, it wasn't intentional, and I won't bore you with the details of the reasons behind the unexpected tweaking of the site, but it does mean that the look and feel is now well past its best.
So in the grand tradition of the perfectionist, there was only one thing for it...redesign the site from scratch! Regular readers should now understand why posting has been a bit slow lately, as I've been slaving away over the site redesign.
The plan is to get the new site up and running by next Tuesday (28th August), though this may slip slightly if Internet Explorer starts choking over CSS again. There'll be a few new features to the site that I'll announce when the new design is finally ready.
In the meantime, apologies for the inconvenience - but hey, it's August, why are you reading a blog on mobile phones rather than lounging on a beach?!

Nokia,
Phones

Nokia have announced the Nokia 6555 designer phone, which signals a change in the mobile phone market. The phone itself is nothing revolutionary - it comes with some pretty decent features, including 3G and quad-band GSM connectivity, 16 million colour QVGA screen and external analogue clock, but nothing amazing.
What is significant, though, is the price - just 200 Euros. Given that the 6555 is being pitched as a designer phone, that's a damned good price, particularly with all the features it comes with.

Sony Ericsson have announced the new Sony Ericsson K770 Cyber-Shot phone.
Yes, just when you thought it was safe to put your feet up for a bit in what we laughingly call the British summer (do floods, high winds and temperatures struggling to reach 70F count as summer?!), Sony Ericsson throw another new phone onto us poor unsuspecting mobile phone bloggers!
Not that I'm complaining though - the K770 actually looks pretty good. It's not got all the bells and whistles of the top of the range Sony Ericsson K850i, but for a good looking mobile phone with a great camera, the K770i looks like it'll be perfect.

Here's an ugly-looking brute of a phone for those of you looking for a phone to replace your ageing Nokia N-Gage - the oddly named GIONEE S20 Game phone.
The GIONEE S20 is a slider phone that looks on first inspection more like a PSP than a phone - well, ok, maybe not that much like a PSP, but it certainly looks more like a handheld games console than a phone. When turned on its side, there's a console-like D-Pad on the left, and A and B buttons on the right, given you no illusions as to the purpose of this ungainly beast. It's only when you slide open the keypad that you think "oooh, maybe it really is a phone!"

Japanese Phones

After talking about Samsung's Disney phones for kids, time now to look at the other end of the spectrum, in the form of the Fujitsu RakuRaku phone, designed for people who's advanced age has rendered the complexities of the modern-day mobile phone beyond them (i.e. aynone over the age of 20!)
Raku is Japanese for Easy, so the Fujitsu EasyEasy phone is obviously designed to be as easy to use as possible. Given this, you'd expect the Raku to offer nothing more than the ability to make and receive calls, and possibly to receive a text or two, but you'd be wrong - the Raku is a full-specced Japanese phone that features GPS, a digital camera, and even photo display correction software.

Samsung

Samsung have teamed up with Disney to launch two new kid-friendly phones that are designed as much for parents as for the kids who'll use them. The Samsung DM-S105 and Samsung DM-S110 are two new clamshell phones with Disney branding on the covers and a Disney-oriented theme throughout their user interfaces.

Korean Phones

LG have launched the new super-fast LG SH150 phone. LG have been a bit quiet recently, but the SH150 shows their still on top form. Featuring S-DMB mobile TV, mobile banking, electronic dictionary, a subway map and a plethora of other features, the SH150 is, as you'd expect, fully loaded.
Best of all, though, is the data transfer rates the SH150 can sustain - a full 7.2Mbps using HSDPA.
Unfortunately, it's only available in Korea at the moment, but then that's probably just as well, as no network outside of Korea could support that kind of speed!
More pics after the jump.
