CES 2008: Sony Ericsson Z555 offers gesture control

Sony Ericsson have also been showing off a few new phones at CES 2008, but apart from the W760i, nothing particularly exciting. Well, not unless gesture control is your things. Yes, the Sony Ericsson Z555 doesn’t just cancel an incoming call with the touch of a button – you can also wave your hand over it to do the same thing.
Same with turning the alarm off – just wave your hand over the phone, and the alarm will stop (though personally I achieve the same effect by throwing mine against the wall! If that’s not a big enough gesture, I don’t know what is!)
More details of the Sony Ericsson Z555i after the jump.
Unfortunately, that’s about your lot in terms of excitement when it comes to the Z555. It looks quite good, but the rest of its features are poor at best. A 1.3 megapixel camera is simply pointless and there just they can add another bullet point in the features list, the phone’s memory is a paltry 12MB, and it doesn’t even have email support.
In fact, it’s just a low-end phone with a novel feature trying to make it stand out from all the other low-end phones out there. Which, to be fair, it probably will do, as it’s cheap, it’s by Sony Ericsson, it looks reasonably good (if a bit too similar to Nokia’s Prism series) and comes with gesture control!
