Samsung Acme i8910 mobile phone with touchscreen

Samsung seems to be leaking like a rusty bucket at the moment, as yet another Samsung mobile is leaked before MWC. This time, it’s the turn of the Samsung Acme i8910, a good looking touchscreen phone that comes paced to the gills with multimedia features.

Unlike the 8 other low end phones that were leaked earlier this week, the Acme i8910 seems to offer some genuine innovation. With the i8910, the Samsung S8300 and rumours of a 12 megapixel camera phone in the works, Samsung looks set for an exciting MWC event after all!

More details and pictures of the Samsung Acme i8910 after the jump.

Samsung Acme i8910 Specification

The expected specification of the Samsung Acme is as follows:

  • Touchscreen display
  • aGPS
  • Wi-Fi

Now that’s a rather tasty spec, especially for a phone so thin. What makes it stand out to em is the move towards high-end multimedia features. Not only does it come with HD video recording, for example, there’s also an HDMI port, so you can connect your Acme to your HDTV and watch your HD videos on your telly.

This implies that the quality of the video recording is genuinely good, as poor video quality is immediately noticeable on an HDTV.

Better still, the use of DLNA means you can watch your HD videos on your phone, and control them via your TV’s remote control. DLNA lets devices share their content seamlessly.

An HDTV could, for example, access all the content on a PC or a phone as if the content were stored locally on the TV. This is a nice touch from Samsung, as the more devices that support DLNA, the more successful (and therefore useful!) the technology will be.

When details of 8 of Samsung’s phones that were rumoured to be on display at MWC were first leaked, I was a bit worried. They were, without exception, truly dull. Happily, with the 12 megapixel camera phone, the Samsung S8300 and now the new Samsung Acme i8910, Samsung shows they’ve still got what it takes to lead the high end phone world. Roll on MWC 2009!
