MWC 2009: New Nokia 6710 Navigator and 6720 ‘Classic’ (i.e. dull!)

Nokia has announced the new Nokia 6710 Navigator at MWC 2009 today. The 6710 follows on from the 6210 navigator, which was Nokia’s first GPS-based phone to feature a built-in GPS unit and Nokia maps.
The 6710 features the latest Maps software (version 3), which includes satellite and 3D aerial views.

In addition to its mapping abilities, the 6710 Navigator also features a 5 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics. As such, it’s remarkably similar in terms of features to the Nokia N85, meaning that N-Series technology is trickling down steadily to the mid-range sector, and also that nokia are saving costs by repackaging the same phone in a different shell!
Still, at least the N85 was a great phone, and so getting the same features for a cheaper price is no bad thing.
Nokia also announced the Nokia 6720 Classic at MWC 2009, but that’s just a candybar with no distinguishing features, and there’s so other more interesting stuff to write about!
