Hands-on T-Mobile G1 Review
Here it is at last – my hands-on T-Mobile G1 review! I’ve had a Nokia E90 smartphone for the past 18 months, but was forced to replace it when it started to go slightly haywire! So after much thinking, I decided to go for the T-Mobile G1, the first Google Android phone on the market. And I’m so glad I did! To say it’s completely changed the way I use my mobile phone, the Web, and even the time in my day is an understatement!
Just like the iPhone, the G1 is a disruptive technology that’ll further transform the mobile phone market.

Nokia 6700 Classic Review
The Nokia 6700 that I’m reviewing here is the latest in Nokia’s illustrious Classic line of mobile phones. Classic not in the sense that it’s an all-singing all-dancing super-phone, but in that forms the core of Nokia’s entire line-up. The Classic line has traditionally been one of Nokia’s best-selling range of phones, offering decent features at a good price.
The big features from Nokia’s flagship phones eventually find their way down to the Classic range a year or so later, so a Nokia 6700 review not only tells us about the phone itself, it’s also a good snapshot of the state of innovation in the mobile phone industry in general.

Samsung Haptic8MP face-tagging cameraphone
Although Samsung release high-end feature-rich phones in the West, they’ve got nothing on the phone the company releases in its native South Korea. Take this phone, for example, the Samsung Haptic 8MP. As you’d probably guess, it features an 8 megapixel camera and a touch-screen with haptic feedback. Nothing new there – the Samsung Pixon and Samsung Tocco Ultra both offer the same, and they’re on sale across Europe right now.
But the Haptic8MP offers a little bit more, as South Koreans are a little more demanding when ti comes to their tech…
Sony Ericsson T707 – a gesture controlled fashion phone
Sony Ericsson have released the Sony Ericsson T707, a new fashion phone that features gesture control – or at least, a limited version of it. You can control some of the phone’s features just by waving your hands over it.
For a fashion phone, it’s not too badly specced, either, but it’s the extra details that Sony Ericsson have bolted on that makes the T707 an interesting proposition.

Specs of HTC’s 2009 smartphones leaked, NVIDIA phone on its way
HTC’s lineup of phones for 2009 was leaked a few months ago, giving us a hint of the new smartphones that will be heading our way later in the year. However, although all leaks are good leaks, there wasn’t much detail to go on, so we could only speculate what was to come in terms of specs.
Fortunately, another leak has come along that’s filled a few gaps for us. The new leak shows some of the specs for the new devices – it’s as if HTC themselves were listening to our cries for more info and gladly obliged!

T-Mobile G1 unboxing video

Here it is, the video you’ve all been waiting for: the T-Mobile G1 unboxing!
OK, so you’ve probably not been waiting for it exactly, but it should tide you over until the full review next week.
8 megapixel Samsung Tocco Ultra now on sale
Samsung’s latest top-end camera-phone, the Samsung Tocco Ultra, is now available to buy. The Tocco Ultra is an 8 megapixel camera phone with a glorious 2.8″ AMOLED screen that’s one of the best on the market. The screen is completely touch-based, as well, and works well with Samsung’s new user interface.
If you don’t like the touchscreen, though, the Tocco Ultra also comes with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Naturally, it also comes with aGPS, Bluetooth 2.0, HSDPA and Samsung’s haptic feedback interface.
It’s a great looking phone, and you can buy it now for free.
Leaked photo of first Samsung Android phone
I bought myself a T-Mobile G1 Android phone at the weekend. My old E90 was showing its age, the G1 was free for the same monthly price as my old Just SIM deal, and frankly, I just couldn’t wait! I love the Android concept, and after having had my G1 for four days, I can safely say I love Android! You’ll get the full review soon.
But then, no sooner had I bought my G1, that some other tasty Android news filtered my way. After little in the way of news, information or developments, Samsung has apparently announced that its first Android phone is about to be launched.
Video review of the Nokia N86

SlashGear have a got themselves a nice hands-on video review of the forthcoming Nokia N86. The N86 is Nokia’s new 8 megapixel camera phone that they’ll be releasing in the next few months. Its specs are pretty sweet, as you’d expect from a Nokia N-Series. As well as the 8 megapixels, the N86 also comes with dual flash, wide-angle Carl Zeiss lens, aGPS, 2.6″ OLED screen and HSDPA.

Falling through T-Mobile’s crack
You may recall that I’m looking to upgrade my phone from my Nokia E90 to a T-Mobile G1 (can’t resist Android’s siren call!) However, because I was on T-Mobile’s old Just Sim tariff (old Sim-only deal that cost me £30 a month), transferring to a new contract wasn’t as easy as I’d hoped. It turns out that if I want to move from a T-Mobile Sim-only deal to a new T-Mobile contract, I can’t keep my old phone number!
If I was on any other deal on any other network, then I could port the number over seamlessly. If I was on any other contract with T-Mobile, it wouldn’t be a problem, either. However, because I’m already a customer of T-Mobile, I can’t port the number over across tariffs, as porting only works across different networks. And for whatever reason, T-Mobile’s systems aren’t equipped to deal with people who want to switch from Sim-only to contract and keep the same number!
