Specs of HTC’s 2009 smartphones leaked, NVIDIA phone on its way
HTC’s lineup of phones for 2009 was leaked a few months ago, giving us a hint of the new smartphones that will be heading our way later in the year. However, although all leaks are good leaks, there wasn’t much detail to go on, so we could only speculate what was to come in terms of specs.
Fortunately, another leak has come along that’s filled a few gaps for us. The new leak shows some of the specs for the new devices – it’s as if HTC themselves were listening to our cries for more info and gladly obliged!
Full details after the jump.
HTC are on a bit of a roll at the moment, winning plaudits for both its new Windows Mobile phones (the TouchPro2 and Touch Diamond2) and its Android phones (the T-Mobile G1 and the HTC Magic, available exclusively to Vodafone). I have a G1 and love it, so the thought of more HT handsets that are even more powerful being released is simply mouthwatering!
Unfortunately, the list of new phones that’s leaked are all Windows Mobile phones, so there’s no news for Android lovers like my good self. However, there are still several items of note that makes me think smartphone lovers are going to have a great 2009:
- HTC NVIDIA phone confirmed – the new HTC SuperStar will feature the fantastic NVIDIA Tegra chipset. Running at 600Mhz and capable of HD video recording and playback, the Tegra chipset has real potential to shake up the smartphone world (if it needs any ore shaking up!)
- HTC Thoth – a new smartphone with a chip running at 1GHz, the same as Toshiba’s new TG01 that’s currently winning rave reviews. Looking more closely at the Thoth’s specs, it llooks like it could almost be a netbook, as not only is it superfast for a smartphone, it’s also got a huge 4.8″ screen. Can’t wait to see what this thing looks like in the flesh!
- Several phones with Windows Mobile 6.5 – although still lagging in the smartphone OS wars, Windows Mobile 6.5 is a definite improvement over the ancient (and truly awful) Windows Mobile 6.1, so it’ll be interesting to see what HTC can do with Microsoft’s new mobile OS.

With the mobile Web most definitely here, and a plethora of new smartphone platforms to choose from, these latest specs from HTC suggest we’re in for a treat later this year. All we need now is some pics from HTC to show what these beauties will look like. Anyone at HTC care to provide a few pics for us (never hurts to ask ;)
