Sony Ericsson Yari preview – the real PSP phone?
Sony Ericsson have announced the brand new Sony Ericsson Yari, a gaming phone that seems in part to be the fabled PSP phone that’s been rumoured for years, while also challenging the likes of the Nintendo DS, the Wii, and er, the PSP itself (probably not what Sony wanted!)
The Yari is a classic looking slider with four buttons, a DPad-like cursor button, and a curious way of playing games – gesture control. By waving your hands in front of the Yari’s screen, you control the player in the game. The Yari also responds to physical movement thanks to its built-in accelerometers, which should give rise to some bizarre games, to say the least!
More details and pictures of the Sony Ericsson Yari after the jump.
MobileMentalism a bit wobbly – normal service hopefully resumed

Apologies to those of you who’ve visited the site in the past few days to find it’s been down. I’m having a few server issues, which should be resolved now, fingers crossed! It doesn’t help that I’m in the middle of a site redesign (on a staging server, not the live site!), so I’m having to spend my time fighting server issues while redeveloping the site at the same time.
The perils of being a do-everything-yourself blogger, I guess! Anyway, if the site is still a bit wobbly in the next few days, rest assured I’m working on it. Once the new site goes live, normal posting will also resume – and I’ve got some killer posts just waiting to see the light of day :) It’s going to be a fun summer, mobile fans!
Panasonic Android phone to be sold outside Japan
Seems the Android bandwagon just can’t stop rolling! Panasonic is the latest company to jump on board with plans for a new Android phone. Unlike other Panasonic phones, though, this one will be sold outside of Japan.
According to Panasonic’s Keisuke Ishii, Director of the Mobile Terminal Business Unit , “We are seriously considering developing an Android-based handset and entering overseas mobile phone markets in fiscal 2010.”
This is great news…
Remarkable 3G and 4G devices to become reality by 2014
A new report by Strategy Analytics predicts that 3G and 4G mobile technology is set to find its way into 20 different mobile device types that are anything but mobile phones. From laptops to cameras, GPS devices to portable game consoles, every type of mobile device is set to become 3G-enabled as the technology and its cost shrink inexorably.
By 2014, the company predicts over 100 million of these always connected devices will have been bought, leading to a golden age of mobile technology that’s set to transform every type of gadget you currently own.

T-Mobile CTO announces multiple Android phones coming in 2009
T-Mobile CTO, Cole Brodman, has revealed in an interview with GigaOm that the company is banking heavily on a mobile future filled with Android devices of all shapes and sizes.
In particular, he revealed that T-Mobile will “…follow up G1 this year with multiple Android devices in the second half that we’ll be launching with at least three partners,” and that “we will see Android [netbooks] …from different nontraditional partners, maybe HP or Dell or others.”

Samsung Beat DJ Review
Time now for a Samsung Beat DJ review. The Samsung M7600 Beat DJ is, as you’d expect, a music phone. As it’s a Samsung phone, there are one or two things it absolutely must have: a feature-set as long as your arm for starters, and some tiny feature that’s touted as the world’s first.
Fortunately for Samsung fans, the Beat DJ scores in both departments. The Beat DJ has every feature you can imagine thrown into its tiny 112.0 x 51.0 x 13.9 mm dimensions, and comes with the world’s first (and possibly last!) virtual turntable on a phone!
Is that enough, though, to see it take the crown as King of music phones from Sony Ericsson’s Walkman range? Read on for more details.
Super weekend phone deals

Android phones get huge speed boost thanks to Intel
Researchers at Intel are working on a new way of speeding up smartphones such as Android and the iPhone using the concept of Cloud Computing. Called CloneCloud, Intel’s research literally creates a clone of a smartphone on a server. When the smartphone needs to perform CPU-intensive tasks or tasks that drain the battery, it connects to its clone on the server, and lets the clone do the heavy lifting. All the smartphone has to do is to wait for the results to be returned.
The advantage of this is obvious. Servers are orders of magnitude faster than smartphones, and they don’t rely on batteries either! Not only does the CloneCloud concept speed up execution, therefore, it should also lead to significantly longer battery life as well as enabling the use of much more complex applications such as face recognition.
More details after the jump.
Leaked pictures of 3 new Android phones
The Android news is coming thick and fast these past few weeks, with more detailed info being leaked on Android phones from both Samsung and Motorola. I’ve already discussed Samsung’s Android phone, the Samsung I7500, but now we’ve got more pictures of the device. As you can see, it literally looks like a G1 bolted onto a classic Samsung handset. Clearly Samsung haven’t exactly gone to town in differentiating their Android phone from the competition’s.
We’re also got leaked pics of Motorola’s new Android devices, which are set to launch in quarter 4 2009. More pics and details of these Android phones after the jump.
