Leaked pictures of 3 new Android phones

The Android news is coming thick and fast these past few weeks, with more detailed info being leaked on Android phones from both Samsung and Motorola. I’ve already discussed Samsung’s Android phone, the Samsung I7500, but now we’ve got more pictures of the device. As you can see, it literally looks like a G1 bolted onto a classic Samsung handset. Clearly Samsung haven’t exactly gone to town in differentiating their Android phone from the competition’s.
We’re also got leaked pics of Motorola’s new Android devices, which are set to launch in quarter 4 2009. More pics and details of these Android phones after the jump.

OK, I say pics – they’re actually “renderings”, which is code for what they could look like if you take an existing Motorola phone and Photoshop an Andoird screen onto it! To be fair, the rumours suggest that these are what the Motorola Android phones will look like, but until we actually see them in the flesh, I’m reserving judgment!
Of the two, the Sidekick-like Motorola Calgary (the one with the slide out keyboard, above) looks the more interesting, if only because I prefer smartphones to have keyboards. Details are scarce at the moment, but the Calgary should have at least the same feature set as the G1. It might not have any more than that, of course – Motorola have been notorious in the last few years for releasing phones that are several years behind the competition.
However, Android is being talked up as the saviour of Motorola, and having slowed down the rate at which they’re losing money (which isn’t quite the same as saying actually making a profit!), Motorola might at last be back on track in creating decent devices once more. As such, although I suspect a Motorola Android phone won’t exactly set the world on fire, it should be interesting to see what they can come up with.

Finally, we have the last Motorola Android phone – the Motorola IronMan. This, apparently, won’t be quite so high-specced as the Calgary, but should offer a nice alternative to the HTC Android phones that have dominated the Android market so far.
So with 2 Android phones from HTC already out, the new Samsung I7500 on its way, and now 2 new Motorola Android phones to boot, there’ll be at least 5 new Android phones on the market by Christmas 2009. Windows Mobile and Symbian fans should start worrying now, as these are the two mobile platforms most under threat by Android.
