Hands-on Nokia N97 Review

Hands-on Nokia N97 review

Here it is at last, my full hands-on Nokia N97 review. I’ll give you the low-down on the good and points of the N97, as well as how well it works as a smartphone (which I’m in a good position to assess, having owned a Nokia E90 and now a T-Mobile G1). You might be surprised by the answer!

Video: Nokia N97 first impressions

I finally got to play with the Nokia N97 that Nokia kindly sent me. Here are my first impressions of it. Full review coming tomorrow, and much, much more video (which may or may not be a good thing, depending on whether you like the sound of my voice as much as I seem to ;)

Nokia N97 Unboxing

Finally managed to spend some time with the Nokia N97 that Nokia kindly sent me for review. Before I get down to details, though, here’s the usual unboxing that seems to be required of all things tech (we’re weird people, we tech-lovers!)

Nokia N97 teaser

Nokia N97 in its box

What’s this ominous-looking little black box? Seems to be a Nokia N97 box :) Have I switched from my T-Mobile G1 to an N97 already? Nope – I’ve just been sent a shiny new N97 to review, that’s all (thank you, Nokia :)

So, I have in my possession a T-Mobile G1, a Nokia E90 and now a Nokia N97. Hmmm, I think a smartphone shoot-out is called for!

That’ll have to wait until tomorrow, though. In the meantime, feast your eyes on, er, the box!

Sony Ericsson Aino Review

The new Sony Ericsson Aino that was announced recently really can lay claim to being called a true multimedia computer (to use Nokia’s hackneyed term).

The Aino is designed from the outset around multimedia, and can seamlessly connect to your PC or your PS3 and stream content from either device anywhere in the world.

Actually, this is worth repeating. You can stream your music, videos, even live TV (with the ability to pause, rewind and record, just like Sky+), anywhere in the world straight to your Aino over an Internet connection.

Effectively, the Aino is a tiny SlingPlayer in a phone – but one which also comes with an 8 megapixel camera, MP3 player, GPS and pretty much everything else you’d expect from a top end mobile phone.

In other words, it’s one seriously cool phone!

O2 and AT&T risk damaging the iPhone brand

In what seems like an almost unprecedented move, O2 and AT&T have collectively managed to annoy their respective UK and US customers in one go following yesterday’s announcement of the new iPhone 3G S.

They’ve both come up with new pricing plans that serve to do one thing to their loyal (not to mention, extremely cash-strapped) customers: screw ‘em!

Live – Full details of the Apple iPhone 3GS

Here we go – the Apple iPhone 3GS has been officially announced in all its glory! The s stands for speed, apparently, as it’s faster than any iPhone before it. 7.2Mbps HSDPA, OpenGL/ES version 2 for super-fast 3D graphics, 3.2 megapixel camera complete with auto-focus and auto-exposure – nice!

More details after the jump (the details are being live-blogged courtesy of Gizmodo and Twitter, so refresh to read more!)

New Apple iPhone finally announced

Here we go – the announcement from Apple of the new Apple iPhone, live from Apple WWDC conference (via Gizmodo and Twitter – I’m not actually in San Francisco, worse luck!). Not expecting much, but we’ll see what’s on offer.

Apple have opened by saying that some 40,000,000 iPhone and iPod Touches have been sold. That’s a huge number! They’re pushing the iPhone as a games machine big time. I suspect Nintendo won’t be too worried, but Sony certainly will.

It’s got cut and paste and – wait for it – MMS! Lol! Two years in production and it’s only released MMS. As I suspected, this doesn’t sound like too much of a new phone – more just an incremental update.

More details after the jump (keep refreshing to see more – I’m writing this as you’re reading!)

Apple iPhone 3GS leaked

Just hours before the new Apple iPhone is due to be announced (assuming the rumours are true, that is!), details and pics of the new phone have been leaked all over the Web.

Well, I say leaked – it’s only a leak if these things are true, otherwise it’s just mad ramblings from an overexcited Apple fan-boy!

The fan-boy in question, though, John Gruber, has been right before, and what he says makes a lot of sense.

So read on for more details of the new Apple iPhone 3GS that should be announced in the next few hours (tip: don’t get too excited!)

T-Mobile confirms the G2 launches next month

We’ve just heard a rumour that T-Mobile’s second Android phone, the T-Mobile G2, will be launched in early June. The source is good, coming from T-Mobile themselves via Reuters, and fits in nicely with other news relating both to the G2 and other manufacturers who are working on Android phones. All we need to do now is to work out which phone it will be!

Fortunately, we have some thoughts on that as well…
