Nokia X10 details leaked
A Nokia insider has managed to smuggle out a video showing details of the forthcoming Noia X10, a new unannounced phone that wil be the first to feature Nokia’s new Symbian^3 OS.
Nokia were surprisingly quiet during MWC 2010 – in fact, disappointingly so – and so any hint of a new mobile phone from the company is being welcomed with open arms by a Nokia fan base desperate to see some innovation from the Finnish company to take on the multitude of superphones that were launched in Barcelona last week.
Alas, the new X10 may not be that phone. See the video after the jump to see what I mean.

Nokia X10 Specifications
With most touchscreen phones today, it’s not the specs that are the key features but the software. How good is the user interface, how easy ot navigate, how much fun to use, and more importantly, how responsive? All these things are far more important than the number of megapixels a phone has.
However, that said, you’d think that Nokia’s first phone to feature its brand new Symbian^3 OS, which has been designed to take on Android, WebOS and the iPhone, would come better specs than this:
- Slider with QWERTY keyboard
- Multiple homescreens with auto rotation
- 600 MHz ARM Cortex A8 CPU
- 3.2” AMOLED capacitive touchscreen
- 32/16GB internal storage
- 256 MB of RAM
- HSDPA, Wi-Fi, A-GPS
- 5 mpx camera with LED flash
The 600 MHz chip is slow, teh 5 megapixel camera has been around for over three years, and all the other features except for the QWERTY keyboard have been a staple part of every N-Series device since the N95.
Noia had better hope that the Symbian^3 OS is better than its competitors, because this phone certainly isn’t.
A note of caution
Of course, a note of caution should be added at this point – the video has not been confirmed genuine. We’ve not heard rumours of an X10 anywhere else, the name is identical to Sony Ericsson’s Xperia X10, which if genuiune should at least cause someone in marketing some concern even if not in Nokia’s legal department, and as the video only shows documents, they’re not exactly difficult to forge!
So this could easily be a fake. Indeed, I hope it is, as with Nokia’s current poor lack of form and its silence during MWC 2010, it really needs to pul something special out of the bag, and fast.
Unless Symbian^3 is that something special, it won’t be the Nokia X10.
