T-Mobile gets the Google gPhone
More Google gPhone rumours for you, this time apparently from an ultra reliable source. Mark “Rizzn” Hopkins has spoken to several people inside the mobile phone industry, and has the scoop on what we can expect from the new Google phone.
Full details of the new Google gPhone runours after the jump (and no, it won’t look like the pic!).
GPS iPhone coming in 2008
More iPhone rumours, this time about the features of iPhone 2.0. According to GPS Magazine, Apple will be releasing a new 3G version of the iPhone in 2008 that will also incorporate GPS Sat-Nav.
The current iPhone already has Google Maps built-into it, but has no GPS module, so you have to manually type in where you are and where you want to go.
More Sony Ericsson PlayStation phone rumours
Ah, those Sony Ericsson PlayStation phone rumours just won’t go away. After a variety of Sony Ericsson execs were quoted talking about the company possibly working on their own gaming phone, none other than outgoing CEO Miles Flint has told the Financial Times that applying the PlayStation brand to a Sony Ericsson phone is a “possible future activity.”
Now rumours can be a tad tenuous at times, but Miles Flint telling the Financial Times that it’s a possibility is certainly what you’d call an authoritative source!
Mind you, there may be a few hurdles along the way before we really do see a Sony Ericsson PlayStation phone…
UK Apple iPhone announcement expected September 18th

Apple have sent out invites to the UK’s technology journalists for an event to be held on September 18th, headed “Mum is no longer the word”
Obviously this has everyone expecting them to announce finally the UK iPhone. It ties in quite nicely with other rumours suggesting the announcement will be made at the end of the month. Unfortunately, it also ties in with O2′s recent rush to upgrade its network to support EDGE, which the iPhone uses, implying a 3G iPhone may not be on the cards just yet after all.

3G iPhone announcement “expected imminently”
More 3G iPhone rumours doing the rounds, this time from wireless chip and DSP sector analyst Will Strauss of Forward Concepts.
Strauss is convinced that Apple are working on a 3G iPhone, and expects it to be announced at the same time that Apple announces which operator it has chosen for the iPhone in each European country in which it will be sold. According to EETimes, this announcement “…is expected imminently, and could come as soon as this week.”
Why wait for the iPhone, though, when you can get the same user interface in the Apple iPod Touch, which is out now and much cheaper.
More details after the jump.
HTC confirms Google phone
More Google phone rumours, this time from an HTC “insider”, who claims that smartphone manufacturer HTC have provided Google with 20 different designs of smartphone for them to choose from for their near-mythical Google phone.
Apparently, the new Google phone will come with a custom version of Google Maps using internal GPS, built-in Wi-Fi to support Google Talk with VoIP, plus GMail and Google Calendar.
More interestingly, the rumour also suggests there’ll be an announcement in two weeks time, with the Google phone itself shipping in the first quarter of 2008, but then we’ve had rumours predicting an imminent announcements for over a year now, so I wouldn’t hold your breath!

Motorola ROKR E8 sets record as world’s ugliest phone
Well, Motorola have well and truly blown the designer phone market, if this, a leaked pic of the Motoroka ROKR E8 is anything to go by. First they created the market with the original RAZR back in 2004. Then they watched as competitors such as LG actually innovated in the market with cool designer phones such as the Chocolate and Shine, while Motorola simply painted their RAZRs different colours.
Then they waited some more and watched as their market share took a pummeling, they lost the number two spot to Samsung and recorded heavy losses. Now, finally, they’ve released a new phone, and look, it’s hideous! It’s as designer as shoulder pads!

Sony Ericsson to launch Wii-like gaming phone in February
Sony Ericsson are to launch a new gaming phone in February 2008 according to new rumours. There’s been speculation for some time that a PSP-branded gaming phone was on the cards, ever since Sony Computer Entertainment exec Izumi Kawanishi said “Could the PSP ever replace your cell phone? There is a possibility” in an interview with IGN last September.
Since then, there’s been little further news, other than more rumours allegedly confirming that Sony Ericsson are working on such a device, but no hint as to what the device would be capable of.
Now, though, there’s a little more meat on them rumours…
Leaked pictures of Nokia N81
Rumours that Nokia are about to launch the Nokia N81 on August 29th are gathering pace, and are helped no end by these leaked pictures of Nokia’s new uber-music phone. The pictures show what is, apparently, just a mock up, but the finished product shouldn’t look too different from this.
Nokia’s teaser site shows the outline of a phone that resembles this picture of the Nokia N81 extremely closely. As such, I think most people will be more surprised if Nokia don’t release the N81 on August 29th than if they do!

Nokia teaser site promises new phone on August 29th
Nokia has taken a leaf out of Sony Ericsson’s book by creating a new teaser site for a new phone that it’ll be releasing on August 29th.
The teaser site’s not bad, actually, if a bit geeky, but the combination of nearly showing what the phone is without actually telling you anything about it is a perfect bit of marketing. This is one teaser site that’s going to go viral in seconds!
So what phone is it then, do we think? Well, current rumours speculate it’ll be the Nokia N81 and Nokia N82, which you can read more about after the jump.
