Apple set to release two iPhones in March 2007

More Apple iPhone rumours are doing the rounds, with VNUnet reporting that the company are planning on releasing not one but two iPhones in March 2007. Apparently one will be a 3G smartphone, featuring WiFi, a full keyboard and video playback, while the other will be a standard GSM phone focusing purely on music.

Not a Nokia N97

A few days ago, the Nokia N97 was the latest rumour to do the rounds, and it looked and sounded great. Maybe a little too great. Unfortunately, it wasn’t real – it was just an ‘idea’ posted in Nokia’s forum that leaked out into the ever-twitchy blogosphere, where great pictures and even greater hype soon take over a post’s true origins.

Damn it! It was a great phone too. Still, on the plus side, Nokia are currently up to the N95 in their numbering system, so a real N97 can’t be too far away. And with the N97′s supposed specs being equivalent to the N95, a real N97 may not be so different anyway. We can still dream…!

Update – over two year later, the the Nokia N97has finally been announced!

Leaked Pictures of the Nokia N97

Not content with the amazing Nokia N95 announced recently, Nokia may have another treat lined up for us in the shape of the Nokia N97. Another all-singing all-dancing multimedia computer, rumour has it that the Nokia N97 will come with a 20GB hard disk, 5 megapixel camera (which looks to be the new standard for Nokia’s 2007 N-Series phones), and a class-leading 3 inch LCD screen.

More details of the Nokia N97 after the jump.

Leaked picture of Nokia 880 and 870 Internet Tablets

Nokia are working on the Nokia 880 and Nokia 870, two new Internet Tablets to replace the existing Nokia 770 that the company released last year. This is a leaked pic of the Nokia 880, gleaned from the FCC’s web site, but unfortunately, no other details are yet known. Still, it shows that Nokia are committed to the Internet Tablet concept, so presumably it found a market somewhere, despite widespread doubts about its viability.

Leaked picture of Nokia E90 Communicator

Nokia may be about to announce a new Nokia E90 Communicator. Nokia’s communicator range is a series of smartphones with reasonably large QWERTY keyboards. They’ve been around for a while now, and have always seemed a bit cumbersome. Great as a PDA-like device, but not so good as a mobile phone.

Nokia’s new E90 doesn’t seem set to change any of that, if this leaked sketch is anything to go by, as it features exactly the same form factor.

40 different iPhone designs

With most new products, a list of “the best 40 fakes of [insert overhyped-product here]” would merit a single post at most, but with Apple’s iPhone, you get a whole blog devoted to such fakes.

So much hype surrounds Apple’s forthcoming iPhone that Okan Vardarova decided to create a blog showcasing the best photoshopped ‘concept iPhones‘ (aka fakes) that have been created by Apple FanBoys worldwide. He’s already compiled 40 fake pics!

New ones are added every day, apparently (are there that many fakes really being generated? Just checked my archives, and yup, seems there are!). Let’s just hope the real iPhone looks at least as good as the fakes, else there’ll be a lot of disappointed FanBoys out there when the iPhone finally drops.

Apple are hiring. No news there, except for the nature of the post currently on offer – a Mobile Marketing Manager. According to the job description:

Apple iPhone spec revealed

Well, Apple didn’t release it’s much-rumoured iPhone last week, but rather than quash the rumours, the lack of an announcement seems to have stoked them even more (should I be surprised at this?)

The latest rumours doing the rounds come from ThinkSecret, who claim that a “source with direct connections to the company’s plans” has told them that the iPhone will be coming in 2007 (my reliable source told me that too – he’s from the ministry of the bleedin’ obvious!).

New Apple handset patent not the new iPhone

Apple have taken out a patent on a new handheld device that does something, and which contains the words ‘mobile phone.’ This naturally has led to feverish speculation along the lines of “oooh, it must be the new iPhone,” but when you look closer at what exactly Apple has patented, it’s nothing more than a user interface for a handheld device – any handheld device.

Sony Ericsson WEGA phones on their way?

Yet more delicious rumours, this time in the shape of new Sony Ericsson WEGA phones that may be coming in the next year or so. Despite mobile TV being all the rage amongst the top mobile manufacturers, Sony Ericsson have been slow to announce their plans, let alone release a mobile TV handset.
