Pictures of new LG Shine Black Label phone

LG have been showing off the LG Shine, a new LG phone in its Black Label (i.e. posh) series of mobile phones.

Just as the LG Chocolate phones were design-focused, so too is the LG Shine, with the emphasis firmly on the materials used on the outside of the phone.

In particular, the Shine is made completely of metal, and comes with a mirror LCD on the front that looks, quite literally, like a mirror when not displaying anything (hence the term ’shine’).

Sony Ericsson Z610 with OLED ‘magic mirror’ display

Sony Ericsson have announced the new Sony Ericsson Z610 mobile phone. The Z610 is a 3G clamshell phone with respectable mid-range features (2 megapixel camera, video recording and streaming, push email, MP3 player – blimey, that all that can be classed as ‘mid-range’!). What sets the Z610 apart from its rivals, though, is its front cover, which is completely opaque when not in use, but which features an ‘invisible’ OLED display that appears when a call comes in, or when the user presses any buttons.

Sony Ericsson call this a ‘magic mirror’ display, which apparently “achieves the feel of a calm ocean surface.” I’m sure we’re all reminded of the ocean whenever we see an OLED display…er…!

Motorola KRZR Preview

Motorola recently announced its new Motorola KRZR mobile phone, and PhoneDaily have managed to get a sneak preview. The phone itself is pretty unremarkable – actually, it’s very unremarkable – but you can’t deny it looks good. OK, it looks like a RAZR, but it’s still good looking.

Sony Ericsson K618 announced

Sony Ericsson have announced the new Sony Ericsson K618 3G mobile phone. The K618 is being pitched as a jack of all phones – appealing to business users and home users alike with a good range of business solutions and multimedia apps.

Key features of the K618 include 2 megapixel camera, 3G, onboard blogging app for uploading pics direct to your blog, Bluetooth streaming for playing your MP3 files or video clips to a suitable receiving device, and push email. Quite a range of features then.

Sony Ericsson W300i Review

The Sony Ericsson W300i is a low end mobile phone that’s now available in most areas. Although it doesn’t have great camera or video features, it has superb audio qualities, as it’s another of Sony Ericsson’s Walkman models.

The W300i has an interesting design, a great price, bags of storage, quad band, and a great price. if you’re looking for a novel phone that’s cheap and plays great music, this could be what you’re looking for.

Read on for the Sony Ericsson W300i review, and where to buy it.

Leaked pictures and video of Sony Ericsson Z610i

Sony Ericsson have a new clamshell phone on the way – the Sony Ericsson Z610i. As these leaked pictures show, it’s an ordinary looking clamshell, and apparently comes with 2 megapixel camera, 265,000 colour TFT screen, and M2 memory card slot. So, nothing spectacular then.

First Motorola SCPL announced

Rumours of the Motorola SCPL, Motorola’s RAZR-succesor, first surfaced back in May.

When first announced, Motorola chief Ron Garriques said the SCPL would have five features that would make the phone stand out from its competitors.

Well, now the first incarnation of the Motorola SCPL has been announced, and it’s going to be called the MotoFone.

But before you gasp in amazement, let me just set this in context: the MotoFone was announced at the same time as the KRZR, the RIZR, and the new RAZRs, but because the MotoFone has such limited features, I actually saw it as just another low end phone, and therefore not worth writing about!

So…now we know it’s the first SCPL incarnation, let’s take a proper look at it.

Motorola RIZR struggles to RIZE above the competition

Motorola have also announced the Motorola RIZR today.

After the RAZR, the KRZR, and now the RIZR, Motorola’s gone mad with its mobile phone launches, and will soon be running out of letters to wrap around the original RAZR!

The RIZR is a step up from the KRZR, offering a 2 megapixel camera, quad-band, MP3 player and Bluetooth with A2DP-stereo compatibility, all in a slider form factor.

Still not exactly setting world alight though. Originally known as the Capri, the RIZR is set to replace the SLVR.

Motorola KRZR finally announced

Motorola have also announced the Motorola KRZR, a mobile phone that was originally thought to be the new RAZR, but which turns out to be a disappointingly low-spec’d phone.

Originally called the Canary, the KRZR comes in either GSM or CDMA variants, and offers a paltry 1.3 megapixel camera, MP3 player, MPEG 4 video, and er…that’s it!

Given that this was originally thought to be the new RAZR, it’s a relief that Motorola fooled us all by sneaking the RAZR maxx on us, as the KRZR definitely disappoints.

MOTORAZR maxx – finally a RAZR to be proud of

Meet the new Motorola MOTORAZR maxx – a new variant of Motorola’s legendary RAZR that’s finally been endowed with some long-overdue features to bring the RAZR firmly into 2006 (well – maybe 2005, but at least they’re trying!).

Top of the list is HSDPA, which enables data to be transferred at speeds of up to 3.6Mbps. The rest of the features are nothing special – MP3 player, 2 megapixel camera, 15fps video – but with HSDPA and the stunning looks of the RAZR now slightly enhanced, the MOTORAZR maxx offers enough to ensure Motorola can squeeze a few more years’ of sales out their ageing warhorse.
