Pics of LG KC1 50Mbps smartphone

LG have also been showing off a few phones at the Korea IT Show, including this, the LG KC1 smartphone. The KC1 uses WiBro, which is the Korean equivalent of the super-quick WiMAX wireless network standard, meaning the data transfer rates of this beast will be huge (up to 50Mbps).

Pictures of Samsung 3D video phone

More pics from the Korea IT Show, this time of the curious Samsung SCH-B710. The B710 is a mobile TV phone with what Samsung are calling a 3D video screen. Not sure what they mean by this, as it looks 2D to me, but maybe that’s because it’s a 2D picture!

Pictures of Samsung SPH-W2700, a super-thin HSDPA phone

If you thought CES and CeBIT were a bit poor for mobile phones this year, check out the phones that Korean manufacturers LG and Samsung have rolled out for the Korea IT Show: a super-thin HSDPA phone from Samsung, super-fast Wi-BRO phone from LG, and what Samsung are calling a “3D video phone”

What you see here is the super-thin Samsung SPH-W2700 HSDPA phone (other phones are in other posts) – more pics and specs after the jump.

LG squeezes widescreen TV into a phone

LG showed off the LG-KB2700 phone at Korea IT Show last week. The LG-KB2700’s main claim to fame is its widescreen LCD TV display. Many other mobile TV manufacturers (LG included) let you watch mobile TV in widescreen format, but you need to swivel the screen around. LG have decided to do without the complicated swivelling mechanism, and just fit the screen in the phone in widescreen format as standard.

Pictures of Pantech’s glorious concept phone

Pantech have been showing off anew concept phone under their top-end Sky brand. The new Sky phone probably won’t be released, and certainly won’t make it outside South Korean, but it does show the direction the company’s next-gen phones are heading.

The phone itself looks glorious – super sleek, super slim, and with a beautiful understated design with great use of an OLED display. Oh, and a touchscreen, naturally (but that goes without saying these days!)

LG CAN*U artistic mobile TV phones

LG have announced the LG CAN*U mobile TV phones, each of which features of one of 10 designs by famous cartoonists and painters.

The phones themselves are fairly feature-laden: T-DMB mobile TV, 2.6″ screen, MP3 Bluetooth, camera, and even mobile banking facilities.

However, it’s the artwork on the phones’ covers that really set them apart, as is obvious from the fact that the press releases only show the back of the phones.

Samsung Card Phone II squeezes mobile TV into credit card-sized phone

Samsung have announced the Samsung Card Phone II (or Samsung SPH-B6700 to give it its official name), a credit card-sized phone that somehow squeezes mobile TV into its diminutive proportions.

Building on the original Card Phone I, the Card Phone II isn’t the thinnest phone in the world, or even the thinnest in Samsung’s armour (both titles being held by the Samsung Ultra 5.9 U100 at just 5.9mm thin), but it is slimmer, lighter and stronger than its predecessor, and still the same size as a credit card, if not the same thickness (87mm x 54mm).

Samsung WiMax phone supports 20Mbps downloads

Samsung have been very busy this week, both at 3GSM and in general. At 3GSM, we saw them show their new Ultra II range of smartphones, while outside of 3GSM land, they’ve been showing off this, the new Samsung SPH-M8100. What’s special about the M8100 is its support for WiMax, which is, for those who don’t know, a kind of super-Wi-Fi technology, featuring greater range and much faster data transfer rates than traditional Wi-Fi.

How much faster? How does 20Mbps while travelling in a car running at 60km/h sound?! Yes, that’s right, very impressive indeed!

KTFT borrows iPhone’s accelerometer

Apple’s not the only one who can build fancy motion-detecting mobile phones.

Korean mobile firm KTFT have announced their own in the form of the EVER 360 (EV-KD370), which uses its motion sensor to switch the phone’s orientation from portrait to landscape, depending on which way up the phone is held – just like the iPhone.
