Leaked picture of Samsung 9 megapixel PMP wonder-phone

This is a leaked sketch of a new Samsung wonder-phone that may be in the making. The sketch shows a neat sliding design with mobile phone on the one side of the device and camera on the other, with handset sliding open to reveal the keys. What’s exceptional, though, is the list of features this wonder-phone may have.

Dopod release the Star Trek tricorder phone

Dopod have released a new smartphone modelled on the trusty Star Trek tricorder. The new Dopod S300 offers the usual smartphone goodies – 65k colour 240×320″ TFT screen , MP3 player, email, usual office apps, plus the ClearVue suite (for reading Word, Exce, Powerpoint and PDF files). But its the looks of this smartphone that really grab the attention.

Two new LG Mobile TV phones announced

LG have announced two new mobile TV phones, the LG-KB1500 and LG-LB1500. Both phones support Korea’s preferred DMB mobile TV standard, are 19.6mm thick and weigh 120g.

Watch Mobile TV on the Subway

This year is meant to be the year of mobile TV, but with so many conflicting standards, no-one’s sure exactly what form it will take in US and European markets.

That doesn’t bother the Koreans, though. In a further sign that South Korea is now roughly two centuries ahead of the rest of us, Korean commuters can now watch free (yes, free!) mobile TV on underground subway lines and stations. And you thought you were lucky if you could send a text message on the subway!

Samsung SCH-V850 mobile phone with GPS

Samsung have announced the launch of the new Samsung SCH-V850 mobile phone. Being a Samsung phone, the SCH-V850 obviously has to have a few tricks up its sleeve. It’s not the 262k colour 2″ QVGA TFT display. Or the rather lowly 1.3 megapixel camera. Not even the MP3 playback, video recording and playback, EVDO data transfer, or IrDA connectivity. Nope, what really sets the Samsung SCH-V850 apart is its A-GPS navigation, real-time traffic information, and emergency assistance. What else would you need on a mobile phone?!

Destined for Korea only, unfortunately, the Samsung SCH-V850 measures 92 x 46 x22.5mm and is expected to be available through SK Telecom for around ?500,000 KRW (~ $512 USD).

Pictures of Samsung’s new ‘iPod nano’ phone

Samsung have released the Samsung SPH-S4300 mobile phone. Taking its cue from the iPod Nano, the SPH-S4300 is an MP3 player first and foremost that just happens to have mobile phone functionality. Few details at this stage, other than it can play MP3, OGG and WMA files, comes with 1GB of memory and a USB port, and clearly looks far more like an MP3 player than a mobile phone.

World’s thinnest mobile phone released

KTF Technologies have released what they claim is the world’s thinnest phone. The KTF EV-K100 is just 7.9mm thin – that’s half the thickness of the Motorola RAZR – and weighs just 60g. KTF achieved this through an innovative antenna design, which up until now has been the limiting factor for phone thickness. Now the 8mm barrier has been broken, phones can get thinner still, so the credit-card mobile really could become reality soon.

CeBIT 2006: Tiny VK Mobile 2200 crams in 4 megapixel camera

VK Mobile a variety of interesting, er, products at CeBIT 2006, including this, the VK 2200 cameraphone with no less than 4 megapixels. Of course, this is somewhat humbled by Samsung’s mighty SCH-B600 10 megapixel cameraphone, but VK prefer to do things small (note, I didn’t say discrete!). Less than half the megapixels of the Samsung leviathan it might have, but the VK 2200 is tiny.

CeBIT 2006: New Samsung mobile phone takes on Sony’s PSP

Samsung have announced the new Samsung SCH-B5200 mobile phone at CeBIT 2006, which is designed firmly with entertainment in mind. Clearly Samsung see the SCH-B5200 as a successor to Nokia’s ill-fated N-Gage, but just in case 3D gaming on your mobile phone doesn’t take your fancy, they’ve also thrown in an MP3 player and DMB mobile TV as well – just in case you get bored!

More details and pics after the jump.

Samsung’s SCH-B600 10 megapixel camera phone not just for Korea

Samsung’s amazing new SCH-B600 10 megapixel camera phone is one of those fantastic Korean phones that normally remains just that: a Korean phone, destined for the super-advanced Korean market only. But according to Lee Ki-tae, the head of Samsung’s telecommunications business, the Samsung SCH-B600 isn’t just a technical masterpiece, it’s also aimed at helping the company gain more market share – and that means Europe.
