Wireless, inkless, portable Polaroid PoGo printer for your camera phone

Back in the days of the 1970s, if you wanted a photo instantly, you used a Polaroid camera, which not only took a photo, but also developed it instantly as well, coming as it did with its own technology for developing the print on special paper. Some years later, digital camera technology came along and all but killed off the film-based camera market, with pics that could be seen instantly, either on the camera’s screen or on your PC.

So you’d think that Polaroid, whose sole unique selling point was the ability to show the pics you’ve taken instantly, would also be dead. But you’d be wrong. Turns out that we still like to see our pics on paper, and now that we’re used to the instantaneous speed of seeing our pics in digital form that the digital camera offers, we also want to see our pics on paper, well, instantly.

Step forward Polaroid and their brand new, and rather neat looking, Polaroid PoGo Inkless Digital Photo Printer.

JBL speaker fits Nokia 5310 like a glove

Nokia announced the Nokia 5310 xPress Music phone the other day, and now speaker manufacturer JBL have announced a new speaker designed especially for the new phone. The JBL On Call 5310 is a stand-alone active speaker that comprises two 3-watt transducers, integrated amplifier and a 3.5mm mini-jack.

In the middle of the speaker is the outline of a phone, into which the Nokia 5310 can slot. Music from the phone can then be played through the speaker, which will also recharge the phone as it plays. Other music sources, such as MP3 players, can also be connected to the JBL On Call 5310 via its 3.5mm jack.

There have been Bluetooth watches before, most of which have led me to ask “why?” However, they’re now no longer the preserve of small-time gizmo makers with a Build-it-yourself Bluetooth-kit and too much time on their hands, as Sony Ericsson have joined the frey with their new Sony Ericsson MBW-100 Bluetooth Watch.

More details of the Sony Ericsson MBW-100 Bluetooth Watch after the jump.

Mobile TV Video glasses turn geeks into borgs

When Motorola teamed with Oakley to produce its awkward-looking mobile-music-shades, which attempted to merge the mobile phone with sunglasses, it forgot one crucial component – the display. Now Korean start-up Kowon Technology aims to rectify that with its new product, the niftily-titled MSP-209 “Video Glasses”.

The Video Glasses contain a pair of LCD screens that are roughly the size of a human pupil (4.2mm x by 4.8mm), but give the effect, apparently, of watching a 32″ TV from two metres away. Kowon aims to capitalize on the surge in mobile TV phones by letting users plug the video glasses into their DMB-equipped phones.

Project your mobile phone’s display onto a wall

Korean manufacturer Iljin Display has developed a tiny projector that the company plans to integrate into mobile phones. The projector will project images from your mobile phone (or any other device) onto a wall or any other surface, giving a display size of 10 inches. Not exactly huge, but it certainly makes mobile TV far more appealing than squinting at the latest episode of Lost on your mobile phone’s screen.
