Hello Kitty, says the BenQ-Siemens AL26
BenQ-Siemens have launched the BenQ-Siemens AL26 – complete with Hello Kitty livery. Aimed at “girls and young women” (surprisingly!), the AL26 is a low-end mobile phone with little in the way of features other than a 65k colour TFT screen and polyphonic ringtones.
Somehow, though, I don’t think features are going to be the main selling point of this phone!
Hello Kitty is a hugely popular brand in its right, with collectors buying anything and everything that features it.
So, if Hello Kitty’s your thing, the BenQ-Siemens AL26 is your phone. Fortunately for me, and any self-respect I might have left, it’s not :)
BenQ-Siemens E91 is a “little utopic sacred object”
This is more like it! BenQ-Siemens have announced the new BenQ-Siemens E91, a higher-range model than the E81 and E71 (oh, that’s how BenQ-Siemens’s numbering scheme works) also announced today. The E91 comes with a plethora of goodies, such as a 3.2 megapixel camera, 3G connectivity, two screens (the main one being a 2-inch QVGA screen with 16.7 million colours), MP3 player, FM radio, and, er, a designer shell!
The shell, which you can see in the picture above, is actually a smart idea, as it combines the phone’s charger with a set of speakers, synchronizes your phone with your PC, and has a ring of lights for extra effects. Sort of like a mobile disco in a shell!
BenQ-Siemens are so proud of the E91, they wheeled out designer Karim Rashid for a quote, who happily said: “I need this little perfect utopic sacred object.” Don’t we all?!

BenQ-Siemens E81 3G phone released
BenQ-Siemens have also released the new BenQ-Siemens E81. Like the E71 also released today, the E81 won’t set the world on fire. It’s a 3G phone with a 1.3 megapixel camera, MP3 player, and not an awful lot else!
Still, it is summer, releasing phones is hard work, and with Christmas still months away, I guess there’s no point releasing your crown jewels just yet. At least, that’s what I first thought upon seeing the E71 and the E81. But just wait till you see the BenQ-Siemens E91!
But first, more details and BenQ-Siemens E81 pics after the jump.
BenQ-Siemens E71 Non-Stick Teflon phone
BenQ-Siemens have announced the new BenQ-Siemens E71 mobile phone.
The key feature of this phone is, apparently, it’s non-stick coating. No fancy gadgets, super-megapixels or mobile TV for the E71 – just a non-stick coating that prevents fingerprints from sticking to it.
Er, wow.
You know a phone’s aimed at the low-end market when ‘non-stick’ is its best feature!

BenQ-Siemens EF61 – from Venus, apparently
BenQ-Siemens have launched the new BenQ-Siemens EF61 special edition. Special, because this mobile phone’s from Venus! According to BenQ-Siemens:
“Most mobiles are from Mars – the BenQ-Siemens EF61 Special Edition is from Venus…The BenQ-Siemens EF61 Special Edition is the embodiment of pure femininity. With its harmoniously rounded form, stylish colors and floral patterns, this compact clamshell mobile is the perfect match for the fashion collections that are fresh off the catwalk this summer.”
Which is a very long winded way of saying it’s pitched at women!

BenQ-Siemens M81 released with rubber
BenQ-Siemens have released the new BenQ-Siemens M81 mobile phone. Pitching it as a ’sporty, urban, active’ phone, BenQ-Siemens are obviously trying to cash in on the latest trend for sporty phones (such as the Sony Ericsson W710 and the Nokia 5500).
Like the Nokia 5500, the M81 is made from a combination of high-quality synthetics and rubber. Unlike the Nokia phone, though, that’s where the sports-related features end. Unfortunately, the M81 is just a low-end phone with a few rubbery bits stuck on it, and not the ’sporty, urban, active’ phone BenQ-Siemens would have us believe.

BenQ-Siemens EF51 launched in a bath
BenQ-Siemens have been showing off their new BenQ-Siemens EF51 mobile phone….in the bath! The EF51 was first announced at 3GSM, and is another mobile music phone from BenQ-Siemens, with dedicated music buttons and quite a good, clean design.

BenQ-Siemens EF71 challenges Sony Ericsson’s Walkman phones
BenQ-Siemens have announced the new BenQ-Siemens EF71 music phone, its first mobile phone to use the new Q-fi brand. Fixing Sony Ericsson’s walkman phones directly in its sights, BenQ-Siemens’s Q-fi phones focus specifically on music. The EF71, for example, features a 10-band equalizer that lets you customize your music, as well as innovative 3D surround speakers.
Add a 2 megapixel camera, 30fps video camera and understated yet attractive good looks, and the BenQ-Siemens EF71 looks like quite a decent phone.
