Which is the best 5 megapixel camera phone?

One of the surprises of the year has been the resurgence of the camera phone. Whereas 2007 was meant to be the year that mobile TV took off, it’s actually died a quiet death while a plethora of stunning new camera phones that really perform well have emerged to take its place.

Nokia began the trend with the Nokia N95, a feature-rich Sat-Nav phone that also comes with a great quality 5 megapixel camera. Hot on its heels was the superb new Sony Ericsson K850i Cyber Shot phone, which will be out very shortly. The two other competitors come from the Korean giants LG and Samsung, with the LG KU990 Viewty and Samsung G600 respectively.

Read on to find out which of these is the best 5 megapixel camera phone on the market today?…

Sony Ericsson K850i vs Nokia N95 camera phone shoot-out

For camera phone lovers out there, there are two new beasts about to go head to head in the form of the Sony Ericsson K850i, which will be released soon, and the Nokia N95 super-phone.

Both phones follow a different design philosophy.

The Nokia N95 is packed to the teeth with features, including GPS Sat-Nav, HSPDA and Wi-Fi, whereas the Sony Ericsson K850i is first and foremost a dedicated camera phone.

Where they come clashing together, though, is in the quality and resolution of their cameras.

Both phones, you see, sport a 5 megapixel camera with auto-focus and a wide range of camera features to help you take the best picture.

Indeed, such is the quality of the photos that either phone can take that it’s fair to say they’re the best camera phones on the market today.

But which one is best? Only a Sony Ericsson K850i vs Nokia N95 shoot-out can decide for sure.

Nokia N95 Review

The Nokia N95 is Nokia’s flagship mobile phone (sorry – “multimedia computer”), and so you’d expect it to be laden with features. As this Nokia N95 review shows, though, the features that it does come with are staggering.

Full Sat-Nav abilities, 5 megapixel camera with auto-focus, DVD-quality video recording, great MP3 player, Wi-Fi and HSDPA for 10x faster downloads are just some of the headline features of this amazing phone.

What’s more impressive though, is that these aren’t just gimmicks: they actually work! For example, any-one can throw a GPS receiver into a mobile phone, but unless you’ve got the right software, it’s no more use than a compass.

With the N95, Nokia have created a mobile phone that’s actually better than many Sat-Nav devices currently on the market!

It’s the same for all the other gadgets it manages to combine, too. Everything about the N95 is superb (except maybe battery life!), so it seems only right that it gets a proper super-review.

Read on for a full review of the Nokia N95, including sample photos and videos, plus a couple of video reviews so you can see it in action.

Nokia improves the N95

Sticking with the Nokia N95 for a moment, it seems Nokia have made a few tweaks to the phone’s firmware. The majority of tweaks make the phone much more stable and faster to use, but one or two of the tweaks should be of real benefit, providing enhanced photos and sharper videos with less noise.

The new firmware is version 11.0.0.26, and details on what it offers and how to get it can be found after the jump.
