Nokia L’Amour 7088 – World’s first Fat-Ass Phone

Nokia have announced the Nokia L’Amour 7088, a low-specced designer phone in the company’s L’Amour range. I say designer – whoever designed the L’Amour 7088 clearly has a love of shapely arses, as this phone has one fat ass! But then Nokia calls it “the pinnacle of mobile fashion design”, so what do I know?!

Nokia have announced that their top-end Nokia N95 GPS phone has begun shipping. The N95 is one of the most eagerly-awaited phones of 2007. With a 5 megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, HSDPA and full Sat-Nav functionality built-in, it’s a technological tour de force, and one that we can’t wait to get our hands on!

e2Save have the scoop in the UK, where their Nokia N95 best deal is just £30, on Orange, O2 or T-Mobile networks. The N95 is also on its way to the rest of Europe, as well as key Asian and Middle Eastern markets.

Nokia N-Gage technology taking shape

Nokia announced last year that they’re working on new Nokia game phones equipped with N-Gage technology. There won’t be a new N-Gage phone, but their high-end models will include beefed-up N-Gage-like technology enabling them to play some pretty sophisticated games.

That was over a year ago, though, but now, thanks to a new patent approval and Nokia’s announcement of its new online gaming platform, some of Nokia’s plans are starting to take shape.

3GSM 2007: Three new Nokia E-Series phones

Not content with a SatNav phone and mobile TV phone, Nokia have also announced not one, but three new business phones at 3GSM. The Nokia E61i is an updated version of its existing E60 BlackBerry clone, featuring a 2 megapixel camera (something that the E60 deliberately lacked); the Nokia E65 is a more traditional business phone, utilizing the slider form factor; and the Nokia E90 is a brand new Communicator, offering a raft of tasty features such as 3.2 megapixel camera and HSDPA.

3GSM 2007: Nokia N77 Mobile TV phone

Seems Nokia have been busy at 3GSM this year. They’ve just announced the new Nokia N77 mobile TV phone. Not quite such a technological tour de force as some of the other N-Series phones we’ve seen in the past, but the N77 is remarkably low priced for an N-Series phone – just 370 Euros.

3GSM 2007: Nokia 6110 Navigator cut-price SatNav Phone

Nokia have announced the Nokia 6110 Navigator GPS phone at this year’s 3GSM congerence. The 6110 Navigator is the same as an existing Nokia 6110, but with the addition of SatNav functionality via a built-in GPS unit.

The new 6110 Navigator is an interesting proposition from Nokia: it sports all the features you’d expect from an N-Series phone, but in a mid-range “mass-market” offering.

CES 2007: Nokia bolts NFC onto its 6131 phone

Nokia have been busy at CES 2007, with the announcement of the Nokia 6131 NFC (Near Field Communications) phone.

NFC is a technology that enables a device (such as a mobile phone) to exchange information seamlessly with other devices when placed in close contact.

Examples of its use include using your phone as an entry card, receiving product information from a CD or DVD by swiping your phone over it, or even buying a bus ticket or can from a vending machine, all by swiping your phone over a suitable receiver.

CES 2007: Nokia shows off the Nokia N93i

Still with Nokia, the company have also announced the Nokia N93i, which is, unsurprisingly, an update of its existing Nokia N93 videophone. The N93i features a few updates, but its chief claim to fame is its smaller size – it’s now just 103mm x 58mm x 25mm in size (as opposed to the original N93′s 118mm x 56mm x 28mm). This was one of the problems with the existing N93, as although its feature-set was fantastic, it created a bulge in your pocket bigger than the proverbial canoe.

It also features a different, RAZR-esque keypad, which some users have complained about, preferring the original N93′s keypad as it was easier to use (can’t please all the people, eh?!), but the new keypad goes some way in reducing the thickness of the N93i.

CES 2007: Nokia N800 Internet tablet – almost the perfect multimedia computer

Also at CES 2007 today, Nokia announced their new Nokia N800 Internet tablet. A replacement for its previous Nokia 770 Internet tablet, the N800 has been branded as an N-Series phone, and so is therefore officially a multimedia computer. In fact, its more of a multimedia computer than the existing range of N-Series multimedia computers, which are, at the end of the day, just fancy phones!

And here lies on of the problems with the N800 – in order to get the most out of it, you need to use it with a mobile phone! Not really convergence – more sort of anti-convergence! But as you’ll see, the Nokia N800 is actually a glorious multimedia computer, more so than any of Nokia’s current N-Series phones that share the same title.

CES 2007: Nokia N76 – an N-Series for those on a budget

CES 2007 finally kicks off in earnest, and first among the big new releases is Nokia, with its new Nokia N76. As it’s an N-series phone, you’d expect the N76 to be all-singing all-dancing, but no this time – the N76 is a budget phone multimedia computer (well, compared with its N-series siblings), sporting only a 2 megapixel camera, MP3 player, video recorder, up to 2GB storage, and er, well that’s it!

Well, not quite it – it has a tasty looking 2.4″ 16 million colour screen. But nothing special to mark this N-Series phone out from its competitors.
