Leaked pictures of Nokia N81
Rumours that Nokia are about to launch the Nokia N81 on August 29th are gathering pace, and are helped no end by these leaked pictures of Nokia’s new uber-music phone. The pictures show what is, apparently, just a mock up, but the finished product shouldn’t look too different from this.
Nokia’s teaser site shows the outline of a phone that resembles this picture of the Nokia N81 extremely closely. As such, I think most people will be more surprised if Nokia don’t release the N81 on August 29th than if they do!

Sony Ericsson K850i vs Nokia N95 camera phone shoot-out
For camera phone lovers out there, there are two new beasts about to go head to head in the form of the Sony Ericsson K850i, which will be released soon, and the Nokia N95 super-phone.
Both phones follow a different design philosophy.
The Nokia N95 is packed to the teeth with features, including GPS Sat-Nav, HSPDA and Wi-Fi, whereas the Sony Ericsson K850i is first and foremost a dedicated camera phone.
Where they come clashing together, though, is in the quality and resolution of their cameras.
Both phones, you see, sport a 5 megapixel camera with auto-focus and a wide range of camera features to help you take the best picture.
Indeed, such is the quality of the photos that either phone can take that it’s fair to say they’re the best camera phones on the market today.
But which one is best? Only a Sony Ericsson K850i vs Nokia N95 shoot-out can decide for sure.
Pictures of the Nokia 7500 Prism
This, apparently, is the Nokia 7500 Prism, which I’d also written about previously as the Nokia 7900. It is, perhaps, the same phone, but given a different number according to the market in which it’s sold. These pictures come from Taiwanese site Sogi, so it’s clearly being called the Nokia 7500 Prism over there.
Whatever it’s called, the Nokia Prism is clearly aimed at the designer market, and is called the Prism due to its, er interesting facial pattern of intersecting diagonal lines.
Well, call it a designer phone if you like, but personally I think the design looks pants! It looks like it’s trying to hard, and gives the impression of how “designer” phones used to look before the RAZR showed us all what a real designer phone should look like.

Nokia 6110 helps Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman navigate the Long Way Down
Nokia have decided to help intreprid explorers Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman indulge their mid-life crises by giving the pair a Nokia 6110 Navigator phone for their latest around the world on a motorbike trip.
The pair famously went from London to New York on a motorobike in 2004 in a trip they called the Long Way round. They’re now aiming to follow on from that trip by travelling from John O’Groats in Scotland all the way down to Cape Town in South Africa in what they’re calling the Long Way Round.
Nokia failed to ask the pair quite why they’re doing this!

Nokia go all arty with a sculptured N76 limited edition
What is it with mobile phone companies and designers these days? We’ve had all sorts of tie-ups – LG have worked with Prada and Roberto Cavalli, Motorola with Dolce & Gabanna, Samsung with Jasper “who is he?!” Morrison.
Now Nokia’s jumping onto the designer-name bandwagon with a new “exclusive” version of its latest N-Series mobile phone, the Nokia N76.
The N76 was never meant to be a top-end N-Series phone, and like many Nokias these days, it can’t exactly be called beautiful. Nokia have clearly decided it needed a bit of tarting up, though, and so have recruited Finnish artist Bjorn Weckstrom to add a bit of culture. He’s come up with a new sculpture that’s been grafted onto the back, together with a set of jewelery that can be bought separately and attached to the device.
Call me a philistine, but it’s all lost on me I’m afraid! If you want one, you’ll have to travel to Nokai’s flagship Helsinki store, so I guess when they say exclusive, they really mean it.

Nokia 8600 Luna – inspired by moonlight, apparently
Nokia have released the Nokia 8600 Luna designer phone. Being a designer phone, it’s not overloaded with features, and naturally it’s quite pricey, but despite that, this is one stunning looking phone. Nokia are keen to promote the 8600 Luna’s detailing, which includes soft-touch stainless steel and smoked glass.
The 8600 Luna is a slider phone, with the keys still visible when the phone is closed through a translucent smoked glass body. When a call comes in, the keys gently pulsate beneath the glass, which moves Nokia into full-on market-speak:
“Combined with the warmth of its glass and stainless steel body, this “heartbeat” transforms the Nokia 8600 Luna from an inanimate object into a trusted companion with an organic, virtually alive form. When a call does beckon, the signature slide movement is carefully balanced to smoothly raise the ergonomic keypad from within its glass cocoon.”
Well, I did warn you!
The Nokia 8600 Luna is available now from The Carphone Warehouse, from free.

Nokia 6500 and 6500 Slide – mid-range phones with N-Series features
Nokia have announced the new Nokia 6500 Classic and 6500 Slide mobile phones.
Both phones offer similar features, but with different form factors.
The 6500 classic is a standard candybar design, while the 6500 Slide is, er, a slider!
Pitched at the mid-range, this pair of phones actually have some pretty nifty features that you’d expect to find on a Nokia N-Series phone.
Quad band GSM and dual band 3G come as standard, while the 6500 Slide even features a 3.2 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss lens.

Nokia N95 Review
The Nokia N95 is Nokia’s flagship mobile phone (sorry – “multimedia computer”), and so you’d expect it to be laden with features. As this Nokia N95 review shows, though, the features that it does come with are staggering.
Full Sat-Nav abilities, 5 megapixel camera with auto-focus, DVD-quality video recording, great MP3 player, Wi-Fi and HSDPA for 10x faster downloads are just some of the headline features of this amazing phone.
What’s more impressive though, is that these aren’t just gimmicks: they actually work! For example, any-one can throw a GPS receiver into a mobile phone, but unless you’ve got the right software, it’s no more use than a compass.
With the N95, Nokia have created a mobile phone that’s actually better than many Sat-Nav devices currently on the market!
It’s the same for all the other gadgets it manages to combine, too. Everything about the N95 is superb (except maybe battery life!), so it seems only right that it gets a proper super-review.
Read on for a full review of the Nokia N95, including sample photos and videos, plus a couple of video reviews so you can see it in action.
Nokia improves the N95

Sticking with the Nokia N95 for a moment, it seems Nokia have made a few tweaks to the phone’s firmware. The majority of tweaks make the phone much more stable and faster to use, but one or two of the tweaks should be of real benefit, providing enhanced photos and sharper videos with less noise.
The new firmware is version 11.0.0.26, and details on what it offers and how to get it can be found after the jump.
Nokia 6210 brings HSDPA to mid-range phones
Back from my conference now, and not a moment too soon, as Nokia have announced the Nokia 6210 Classic.
The Nokia 6210 is a mid-range mobile phone that’s acquired some of the features of Nokia’s high-end N-Series mobile phones.
Its key feature is its use of HSDPA for super-fast downloads (around 3.6Mbps), plus a host of user interface tweaks to speed up common tasks, such as setting up and synching email, and downloading music and pictures more easily.
The Nokia 6210 Classic also comes with a 2 megapixel camera with flash and panorama mode, video camera and recorder, and can stream video over the fast HSDPA link.
