Pictures of Sony Ericsson W710i fully armed
Sony Ericsson went mad last week, releasing four new mobile phones onto an unsuspecting market. One of the most interesting was the Sony Ericsson W710i sports phone, which has been designed for the more active user. As part of this emphasis on sport, the W710i comes with an arm band, letting you wear your mobile phone on your arm as you jog. With your phone suitably, er, armed [ahem!], you can use the W710i’s nifty sports features, such as its pedometer and running speed measurement tool.
Looking at this picture of the W710i’s arm band, though, I’m not so sure it’s as practical as it sounds. Aside from the fact it looks like a gadget-laden growth emerging from an arm, it also seems to scream “steal me now”!

New Sony Ericsson W710 Sporty Walkman phone
Sony Ericsson have just announced the new Sony Ercisson W710 Walkman phone. Designed for an “active, sporty lifestyle”, the W710 is clearly being positioned by Sony Ericsson as a competitor to Nokia’s 5500, which was announced last week. The W710 may just have the edge in terms of sporty features, however, as it can measure your running speed, distance and time, or simply count your steps when walking.
Throw in the 2 megapixel camera, first rate MP3 player with Sony Walkman quality, and software that identifies any tune that it hears, and you’ve got a good looking feature-rich mobile phone that should certainly give the Nokia 5500 a run for its money.
What is it about May that suddenly brings out the sports phones though?!
