Samsung SCH-B470 mobile TV phone with picture-in-picture

Samsung have announced the Samsung SCH-B470 – a mobile TV phone for the seriously addicted telly addict. Not content with just putting TV on a mobile phone, the SCH-B470 offers picture-in-picture – letting you see your TV programme on one side of the screen, whilst doing any of the million other things a Samsung phone will let you do on the other half.

 

Mobile TV Video glasses turn geeks into borgs

When Motorola teamed with Oakley to produce its awkward-looking mobile-music-shades, which attempted to merge the mobile phone with sunglasses, it forgot one crucial component – the display. Now Korean start-up Kowon Technology aims to rectify that with its new product, the niftily-titled MSP-209 “Video Glasses”.

The Video Glasses contain a pair of LCD screens that are roughly the size of a human pupil (4.2mm x by 4.8mm), but give the effect, apparently, of watching a 32″ TV from two metres away. Kowon aims to capitalize on the surge in mobile TV phones by letting users plug the video glasses into their DMB-equipped phones.

As if to demonstrate how many light years ahead of us the Koreans are, customers of the Korean Train Expess (KTX) will soon be able to watch TV on their DMB-enabled mobile TV phones whilst speeding across the Korean countryside on a KTX bullet train. Nothing unusual about that, you may think, until you learn that the KTX travels at 300kph!
