GSMArena love the Sony Ericsson W800i, writing “Any comparison between K750 and W800i speaks in favour of the latter. The new Sony Ericsson model costs about 100 euros more, which is not that much if you take into account the fact that it features a MP3 player with 512 MB memory card. Its numerous applications and stylish design are definitely worth the price. If you find it too expensive, simply wait! There is no doubt that its price will soon start to fall.
If you have already decided to buy it though, then be sure that you are going to pay for a first-rate mobile phone equipped with brilliant and fast applications. There is little to miss here. In addition, do not forget that W800i offers the best mobile phone camera on the current market and what is even more important - it features a MP3 player of excellent sound and a broad range of setting options.”

InfoSyncWorld go even further, giving the Sony Ericsson W800i an impressive 93%, and writing “Despite an advanced feature set which includes a high quality camera and similarly high-performance audio player, the Sony Ericsson W800i manages to maintain strong battery life. Its lack of EDGE for high-speed data aside, the handset also delivers an excellent overall experience in the communications and messaging departments. The Walkman branded Sony Ericsson W800i comes highly recommended not only for youth, but for everyone in need of a brilliant combination of mobile phone, digital camera and portable music player.”
MobileBurn also rave about the Sony Ericsson W800i, saying “Like the K750 that it shares so much with, the W800i is simply a fantastic phone. It has a great camera and user interface, managed over 10.5 hours of talk time in our test, and has the best music app I have seen in a phone yet - all in a very flashy and good looking package. If you are looking for a mobile phone with both a good camera and good music abilities, it simply doesn’t get better than the Sony Ericsson W800i at this time. I give it a “Highly Recommended” rating.”
Finally, ZDNet also like the Sony Ericsson W800i, but are less enthusiastic about it, awarding it 7.6%. They like the admirable call quality; simple design; user-friendly interface; high-quality MP3 player with FM radio; Bluetooth and infrared port; speakerphone; 2-megapixel camera; world phone. They dislike the lippery, small keypad buttons; small phone book; poorly located headset jack; users can’t listen to music through Bluetooth headphones; accepts Sony’s proprietary Memory Stick only. And conclude “its design may not be particularly flashy, but the Sony Ericsson W800i Walkman phone elegantly combines its calling and multimedia features into a powerful device.”
Summary of the Sony Ericsson W800i Walkman Mobile Phone
You’ll be hard pressed to find a bad review for the Sony Ericsson W800i. If it’s a Tri-band moble phone you’re after with great sound quality, style, brand presence, great camera and great game playing ability, the Sony Ericsson should be high on your list. It’s not got a great form factor, and so doesn’t have the corresponding wow factor of some of the more recent Nokia’s, but don’t let that put you off - this is one superb mobile phone. And now that Sony Ericsson have released a variety of extra music-related add-ons for the W800i and its sisters, there’s even more reason to buy it.
