Sony Ericsson Xperia Pureness X5 Preview
Sony Ericsson has decided to take its Xperia range of phones decidedly upmarket with the launch of the Sony Ericsson Xperia Pureness.
Whereas other Xperia phones are high-end smartphone affairs that come with virtually every feature you can think of, the Xperia Pureness is, well, pure! It’s a fashion phone first and foremost, and its main claim to fame is its stunning see through screen, which can be seen on both sides of the phone.
It’s easier to see than talk about, so check out the video after the jump.
LG GD900 – world’s first naked phone
LG have announced several new phones at MWC 2009 as you’d expect, but one that caught my eye was this – the LG GD900. It’s not the most exciting of phones spec-wise, particularly when compared ot the LG Arena, but it does have one trick up its sleeve – a completely see-through keypad.
The LG-GD900 is a fashion phone, so don’t expect anything too special from it, but the transparent keypad should certainly provide a talking point. If you’re into fashion phones, and you like your phones in the buff, you should certainly check out the GD900 when it’s released later this year.

Samsung Armani M7500 with Night Effects
The Samsung Armani M7500 Night Effect designer phone has just been announced at pretty much the same time it’s going on sale!
Samsung’s latest designer phone goes on sale tomorrow, and offers a breath of fresh air from designer phones of the past year or so, almost all of which have been touchscreen phones.
Instead, the Night Effect is a candybar phone with typical sleekly black Samsung lines coupled with an Armani logo emblazoned across the centre of the phone, on its side and on its back.
LG Prada II on its way
LG has officially announced its new LG Prada II designer phone. LG hopes the Prada II will build on the success of the original LG Prada phone, which was touted by many as an iPhone killer when it was first launched. In fact, as the first touchscreen phones to be released on the market, the original Prada looked so similar to the iPhone, that many people wondered if they were developed by the same team!
They weren’t of course, and although the Prada sold over a million units, it never matched the success of the iPhone.
The LG Prada II, in contrast, is being released into a world that’s nopw grown accustomed to touchscreen phones, and so won’t have the direct iPhone comparisons to struggle against. This has give LG the freedom to be a bit more experimental with its design.
LG Chocolate 3 launches, world’s attention elsewhere
LG have launched the brand new LG Chocolate 3, which, as its name suggests, is the third generation of LG’s phenomenally successful range of designer phones. Unlike its predecessors, though, the LG Chocolate 3 is a clamshell phone rather than a candybar, and, well, isn’t actually that good looking! It’s not that it’s ugly – it’s just nothing special. Equally, its feature set is a bit middle of the range. You get the usual: MP3 player, measly 2 megapixel camera, 2.2″ LCD screen, etc.
You even get aGPS thrown in for location-based services. But none of these features is particularly inspiring. This in itself wouldn’t be a problem, as designer phones tend not to come with high spec features, but given that it doesn’t exactly look all that great either, the LG Chocolate 3 is in danger of becoming just another mid-range mobile phone. In other words, a bit anonymous.

LG-KF510, a designer phone that works
LG have launched their new LG-KF510, a designer phone that packs in some pretty top rate features. The features themselves aren’t novel – all phones come with MP3 players, digital cameras, and the life these days – but what the LG-KF510 does is to provide high performing versions of such features in an attractive handset.
For example, the digital camera isn’t just a 3 megapixel camera; it’s a 3 megapixel camera with power flash and 1 second response time, meaning you can actually take decent photos in the gloom, as well as taking photos the second you see something interesting happening.
LG KF510 touchscreen designer phone
LG will be showing off their new LG KF510 at the Mobile World Congress next week. The LG KF510 is another LG designer phone, and it has to be said, comes with some seriously good looks. Not only does it have LG’s checkerboard keys that it’s used to good effect on several of its previous models, it’s also equipped with neat OLED display directly underneath the screen.
