Sony Ericsson W995 Review – discover the best kept secret in mobile phones

The price of the Sony Ericsson W995 has recently dropped, making it a fantastic deal if you’re looking for a top of the range phone with a huge list of features, but for a bargain price. In fact, its new price makes the W995 the best kept secret in mobile phones this Christmas – and one that you’ll be delighted to have discovered!

Why? Because although the W995 has a great feature-set – including huge 8 megapixel camera, WiFi, GPS and tons more – other sexier phones have since been released, and so the price of the Sony Ericsson W995 has had to be lowered to attract people’s attention again.

The result is a great mobile phone with some superb features for a ridiculously low price – perfect for a credit crunch-busting Christmas present!

To see if the W995 is for you, read our Sony Ericsson W995 review below.

Nokia X6 – Comes With Spore

Nokia has revealed the new Nokia X6 music phone at Nokia World 2009. The Nokia X6 is the first of a new range of X-Series devices that points the way to a new direction for the company – and a much better one than was evident with its recent N97.

Whereas the N-Series range was described by Nokia as “multimedia computers”, reflecting the high-end set of features each device incorporated, the X-Series focuses firmly on entertainment. Music, video and social connectivity are at the heart of the X-Series phones, as is a brand new user interface and experience.

The Nokia X6 features a glorious 3.2″ touchscreen phone that’s actually extremely responsive. Unlike the N97, the X6 is based on capacitive rather than resistive technology, which means a simple swipe with your finger is all that it needs to control the menus and screens, rather than the stylus or a fingernail that the N97 demanded you use.

This makes the whole experience much improved. Add to that cracking features like a 5 megapixel camera with dual LED flash, glorious social connectivity via Facebook, 32GB of storage and a battery capable of playing a whopping 35 hours of music between charges, and the Nokia X6 looks looks like it could be a breakthrough device for Nokia.

Samsung Beat DJ Review

Time now for a Samsung Beat DJ review. The Samsung M7600 Beat DJ is, as you’d expect, a music phone. As it’s a Samsung phone, there are one or two things it absolutely must have: a feature-set as long as your arm for starters, and some tiny feature that’s touted as the world’s first.

Fortunately for Samsung fans, the Beat DJ scores in both departments. The Beat DJ has every feature you can imagine thrown into its tiny 112.0 x 51.0 x 13.9 mm dimensions, and comes with the world’s first (and possibly last!) virtual turntable on a phone!

Is that enough, though, to see it take the crown as King of music phones from Sony Ericsson’s Walkman range? Read on for more details.

Sony Ericsson teases with the Sony Ericsson C903 and W395

Sony Ericsson has been teasing us prior to MWC 2009 next week with official announcements of the two new phones: the Sony Ericsson C903 Cybershot phone and W395 Walkman phone.

Neither phone is particularly innovative, it has to be said. The W395 is a budget music phone with 2 megapixel camera, while the C903 is a mid-range CyberShot phone with 5 megapixel camera and GPS. As such, although inevitably destined for good sales success, they’re not the high-end flagship phones we’re looking forward to at MWC.

More details after the jump.

Sony Ericsson W508 Walkman phone preview

Sony Ericsson announced the Sony Ericsson W508 Walkman phone during CES 2009. The W508 is a music phone (obviously) based on a clamshell design that does a lot of things well, but nothing particularly amazingly. It comes with HSDPA and 1GB of onboard memory, and the usual camera (3.2 megapixel) and Sony Ericsson goodies such as TrackID, PlayNow, and Shake control.

Nokia 5800 XpressMusic review

Time for a Nokia 5800 review, I think.

The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic phone has been eagerly awaited, as it’s been touted as Nokia’s first real iPhone-killer. Sporting a fancy new touchscreen user interface, the Nokia 5800, also known as the Nokia Tube before its release, is a mid-range phone that’s designed purely for fun and media while offering a similar user interface experience to the iPhone.

Better still, it comes with Nokia’s Comes With Music service, which lets you download an unlimited number of tunes from its music store for an annual subscription.

So with good looks, a promising user interface and some nifty features, all from a phone that won’t break the bank, the Nokia 5800 looks very promising indeed. Read on for the full Nokia 5800 review to find out if it lives up to its hype.

Sony Ericsson W705 WiFi Walkman phone

News now of the Sony Ericsson W705, the first Walkman phone from Sony Ericsson to feature Wi-Fi. A cool, if slightly ungainly-looking slider phone, the W705 is designed with fast connectivity in mind, to enable people to download their tunes (ideally from Sony Ericsson’s own music store) wherever they are.

Obviously Wi-Fi will help, but if you’re outside of a Wi-Fi hotspot, the W705 also comes with HSDPA, meaning you can download your tunes at 3.2Mbps wherever you are (unless you’re with T-Mobile, who for some odd reason seem to have a blackspot in Slough and Devon!)

Sony Ericsson W595 and W302 celebrate the Walkman phone’s birthday with cheapness

In addition to the Sony Ericsson W902, the company has also announced the Sony Ericsson W595 and W302, two more Walkman phones that collectively have been launched to celebrate the Walkman phone’s third birthday (has it really been three years? They grow up so fast!).

Unlike the W902, though, which Sony Ericsson are touting as a premium handset (even though it’s just a mid-range one!), the W595 and W302 are designed for more sensitive wallets, and so are cheaper and come with fewer features.

More details after the jump.

Sony Ericsson W902: finally a good-sounding Walkman phone

Sony Ericsson has announced the Sony Ericsson W902, a premium Walkman phone that for once focuses more on sound quality than on features. The W902 comes with sound quality that’s apparently best in class, which you’d rather expect in a phone with a Walkman badge on it. Unfortunately, that’s not always been the case, with most Walkman phone only offering average sound quality, so it’s nice to see a new Walkman phone that can, er, walk the walk, as it were!
