Motorola Quench, the perfect intro to the world of Android
Motorola have released a new smartphone at MWC 2010 in the shape of this, the Motorola Quench. Unlike many other phones debuting this week, the Quench isn’t going to know anyone’s socks off – it’s basically just a Motorola DEXT without the keyboard.
However, it backs up Motorola’s commitment to Android, and should be a cheap option ofr those people looking to get into smartphones cheaply.
HTC HD Mini is the end of an era
HTC may have been showing off their new shiny Android phones at MWC 2010 today, but that doesn’t mean they’d forgotten about dear old (and I do mean old!) Windows Mobile. So they also released this, the HTC HD Mini, a much smaller version of the HTC HD2 released late last year.
The HD2 was the best Windows Mobile smartphone ever released, and with the transition from Windows Mobile to the brand new (and utterly different) Windows Phone 7 Series, will probably remain so. Indeed, it’ll probably become a classic of its time – the definitive Windows Mobile phone, you could call it.
But the HD2 was huge – its screen was 4.3″ in size – meaning it wasn’t for everyone.
So HTC decided to cover all bases, and have come up its little brother, the HTC HD Mini. Featuring the same Windows Mobile 6.5.3 OS and HTC Sense UI, it’s pretty much the same phone, but in a much smaller body.
Does that make it unusable though? Well, let’s have a look.
HTC Desire lives up to its name
If you thought the HTC Legend was good, wait until you see the HTC Desire. Sporting the same internals as the Google Nexus One (i.e. a 1GHz Snapdrgaon CPU, 3.7″ AMOLED display, 5 megapixel camera, and all the usual sensors, GPS, WiFi and HSDPA gloriousness you’d expect from an Android device – oh, and Android 2.1), the HTC Desire adds to all this, er, desirability with its newly updated Sense UI.
Oh, and it also throws Flash 10.1 into the mix as well. Mmmmmm :)

HTC Legend revealed, still manages to surprise
HTC have officially unveiled the HTC Legend smartphone at MWC 2010 this week. Although the Legend has been leaked a few times in the past few months, the new successor to the HTC Hero still managed to sneak through the odd surprise – principally in its beautiful aluminium-strewn looks.
If this isn’t the best looking smartphone on the market I don’t know what is!
Read on for all the details and more photos of the HTC Legend after the the jump.
Samsung Halo i8520 projector phone – the most advanced Android phone yet
Wow! Samsung will be showing off this, the Samsung Halo i8520 phone tomorrow at MWC 2010. The Halo is both an unbelievably good smartphone from Samsung, yet also something of an enigma.
First the goodies – the Samsung Halo is a 3.7″ SuperAMOLED-totting Android 2.1 smartphone with a list of features longer than your arm, and which includes not just an 8 megapixel camera, not just 720p/30 frames per second video recording, but a built-in pico projector for projecting images and video onto a wall!
Seriously, the list of features on this new phone is just stunning – check them out after the jump.
Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini and Mini Pro: Cute baby Androids that could corner a whole new market
The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, an Android-based touchcsreen smartphone, has been leaked and officially announced for months, even though it’s still not on sale. We’ve also had rumours of the Xperia X10 mini, which has just been confirmed by Sony Ericsson at their press even at MWC 2010.
What we weren’t expecting, though, is the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini Pro, a tiny Android smartphone with a name that’s longer the phone and a physical QWERTY keyboard – you know, for pros!
Is the Xperia X10 Mini (and the Pro) any good though?
Videos and preview of the Samsung Wave S8500, the first Samsung Bada phone
The first Samsung Bada phone, the Samsung Wave S8500, has been officially previewed today at the start of MWC 2010. It’s been an open secret that the Wave would be show in Barcelona this week (largely because of the giany billboard poster Samsung had put up telling everybody about the Wave!), but this is the first time the world’s mobile press have been able to get their grubby hands on it!
So, what are the first impressions? How does Bada compare to the multitude of other smartphone OSes on the market at the moment, and what’s the Samsung Wave actually like?
Leaked pics of HTC Legend shows a Heroic phone in the making
And now we bring you the HTC Legend, fellow readers, our fourth bit of Android news for the day! I told you this was Android Day – for some unknown reason, virtually every bit of news coming out of mobile phone land today is all about Android.
Maybe it’s because it’s the run up to MWC 2010 next week. Either every other mobile manufacturer is keeping their cards close to their chest, or the Android manufacturers are feeling very confident and want to get their news out early.
Whatever it is, today’s been an absolute feast for Android (and Megan Fox!) fans!
Anyway, onto the HTC Legend.
Qisda QCM-330 wins sexiest Android phone award
Continuing with our Android Day theme, we now have news of the Qisda QCM-330, a super-slim touchscreen phone that’s just won the iF mobile design contest. Normally I’d put such pics down to flashy concept phones, but apparently this one’s for real – it’s heading for Vodafone across Europe later in the year.
Apart form its thinness and exceptional good looks, the Qisda is rumoured to be toting Android under its sleek shell, and comes with a whopping 1280 x1024 display.
One thing we don’t know, though, is what the interface is like. The main features are like every other Android phone, and although the design of the phone looks gloriously sexy, if the user interface is the stock Android interface, it might be a bit of a disappointment.
Hopefully we’ll find out at next week’s MWC 2010.

Naked Megan Fox shows off the Motorola Devour
Our second bit of news on Android Day comes courtesy of the Motorola Devour, Motorola’s new Android phone complete with their own MotoBLUR interface. Motorola dug deep into their pockets for the Devour and advertised it on the SuperBowl yesterday, which must have cost them a pretty penny.
Speaking of pretty, they chose Megan Fox to show it off in the ad. And then put her in the bath naked. I can think of worse jobs to have than heading up Motorola’s marketing department (and it’s the first time I’ve been able to say that in a few years!)
More details, pics and vids of both the Motorola Devour and Megan Fox in the bath after the jump!
