Sony Ericsson C905 Review: October Launch

The Sony Ericsson C905 is set to become the new standard for camera phones when it’s released in October (just in time for Christmas!). Forget the 5 megapixel camera phones of last year – the C905 comes with a huge 8 megapixel camera, some serious camera wizardry to get the best out of all those pixels, and a huge range of other features, such as HSDPA, WiFi and aGPS, as well.

The question is – how well does it work? Only one way to find out – read on after the jump for our Sony Ericsson C905 review.

Sony Ericsson C905 CyberShot phone – full details, pics and spec

The Sony Ericsson C905 CyberShot phone has at last been made official. Sony Ericsson’s latest super camera phone is a technological tour de force, designed to take on and beat the best that Nokia’s N-Series can throw at it. Not for Sony Ericsson a measly 5 megapixels – the C905 comes with 8.1 megapixels. Connectivity? While the average Nokia N-Series can manage Wi-Fi, HSDPA, USB and Bluetooth 2.0, the C905 features all that and throws DLNA into the mix too, enabling your phone’s pictures to be beamed directly to your (DLNA-compatible) TV wirelessly at the touch of a button.

You also get a-GPS, built-in Google Maps, and a tonne of fancy-ass camera-specific features, too, making any N-Series phone look like an iPhone (well, at least in the features stakes anyway!)

More leaked pics of the Sony Ericsson C905 camera phone

Just in case you didn’t believe that Sony Ericsson were serious about releasing an 8 megapixel camera phone, here are a few more pics that just might make you change your mind. The first thing to note is that these pics aren’t Photoshopped – they’re the genuine article. Then look at the detail – not only is “8 megapixel” clearly written on the side, but also Wi-Fi and GPS.

Make no mistake, the Sony Ericsson C905 is going to be one monster of a camera phone, but only as far as features are concerned. As you can see from the pic below, although bigger than a Motorola RAZR, it’s not vastly so, meaning it’ll be a large camera phone, but not an enormous one.

Leaked video preview of Sony Ericsson C905 Shiho

Sony Ericsson will very shortly be dropping an absolute monster of a camera phone on us all – the Sony Ericsson C905, complete with an 8 megapixel camera. Currently codenamed the Sony Ericsson Shiho, the C905 is set to blow all other camera phones out of the water. Not only do you get a megapixellage so vast it makes your eyes water, it also comes with all manner of nifty photo-enhancing features normally found in cameras. Not just auto-focus, which you’d expect, but also a xenon flash, face recognition, smart contrast, image stabilization, BestPic, and red-eye reduction.

And that’s just the camera! Throw in a-GPS, Wi-Fi, HSDPA, and all manner of other goodies, and the C905 is every Sony Ericsson fan-boy’s wet dream come true!
